Okay so this little patch on my RR fender that had bubbly paint is now cracked and rusting more along with the lip inside the wheel well. As pictured here you can see the cracks where the paint was bubbling and eventually cracked:

Because I really don't have the time or resources to replace the panel or sand down the whole area. I was gonna tape off about half a cm above the highest crack then maybe light sand it then spray it down with black paint to stop it from spreading from road salt getting all up in its businesses and rusting out the panel unless i would need to fill it with something. Then the rest of it on the lip of the fender just paint heavily. Here is what I had in mind don't hate my MS paint $killz.

Better plan run down to wally world and pickup a can of "rust converter" from the auto section, spray that on instead. It turns rust into a prime-able surface. Then go to crappy tire (or someplace american like that), and grab a can of factory paint and clear (about $10 a can) all in should be $30 or so

tape off where you want it, sand it down till there is no more surface rust, might get down to bare metal, and primer and paint over it. I battled rust on my 99 I had and with minimal skill and rattle cans it seemed to win some battles for me

Where could I grab a can of the factory color or would just regular black from wally world work? Also with the cracks would I just sand it down or would I need to fill them. Id rather not get it all sanded then when I get done it look worse than when I started I'm not particularly good at any sort of painting buy its in a spot that isn't too big.

Price doesn't seem too bad, 20 ish for a rattle can. Might get a 1/2 oz bottle also. Then some clear from wally world. After the 80 should I use a finer grit?

Get the clear from them too.

And yea 80s going to right so you'll want to go up in grit and wetsand to get a smoother surface.

So this is what I plan on buying later today from the website red suggested. I planned on going to wal-mart and getting filler primer because its cheaper there than on this website for a can. Also planned on getting spot putty for a few of the small cracks. Sucks I have to wait for another day when its warm out to do this because I don't have a garage to use. Shipping is like 7$ for 1-2 weeks or 10$ for 3-5 Days going for 3-5 days.

duplicolor sells a repair kit with all that in it. for about the same price. but its a pre made kit, so nothing is forgotten, comes with the bondo spreader tool as well. iirc. their web site is full of how to's also, well worth a watch just for a lesson.

i used the duplicolor GM black metallic on my back bumper, came damn good. as with any paint work, light coats.

The only kits I could find were just for scratches. I think I'm gonna order what I posted then take a crack at it when it ever flipping warms up.

I just sanded with 100 grit to bare metal, used brake clean on a rag and wiped the bare metal clean, and used touch-up paint. It's been a year and still no rust there.
