Might be getting myself into an apperance project again and was wondering what does everyone, specifically 04+ guys recommend for good replacement headlight bulbs? I want just direct swap plug n play and not breaking the bank bulbs. Also nice and bright or at least brighter then stock maybe almost blue. Suggestions please

Well if you want to go HIDs then I would recommend you do it the right way and get your headlights retrofitted. If you want a brighter halogen then I would either go with HIR's or with a set of philips xtreme vision. FYI blue coated halogen bulbs actually limit the light output.

I might look into HIDs. Are they plug n play? Not really lookin into retro fits just want simple bulb swap.

Yea pnp prepare to get flashed with the glare they produce on a reflector housing. Retrofit is 100x better you won't want to go back to halogens or pnp hids after you experience it.

I would definitely recommend retrofits! Not just because I make them but because in the end the output is so much better than factory, they look nicer, and you wont get flashed from oncoming drivers. Ya there going to be more expensive than bulbs, obviously, but you will be much much much happier in the end.

    Thanks!

We have an HID conversion kit for $89. It uses a 35 watt ballast and won't blind oncoming drivers, yet it provides you with more usable output and better appearance.

It's plug and play, and the ballasts are backed with a lifetime warranty

Let me know if you need more information

Retro's are the best solution, but they are more expensive and require you to modify your stock housing.

Sounds like your trying to hard to sell your product. How does your hid kit not glare other drivers? It's still going into a reflector base housing. Rather if it's a cheap Chinese made eBay kit or a quality kit it's still going to reflect off the reflector. So yea they will be some type of glare I'm sure of. Only way your not going to have glare is with the projector route. Now I will say this is you aim your headlight right and make sure that they aren't aiming high you'll minimize the chance of them bothering other drivers.

Yeah the glare is pretty bad. Im running 55w ballast with 8000k bulbs. I dont get flashed as much as you would think but I still do time to time. If you do go with the reflector/HID I probably wouldnt get 55w like me and make sure that aiming is dead on or maybe a little low like redcompg said.

Go take a flashlight and aim it at a mirror thats directly in front of you. This is similar to what oncoming drivers experience. It usually doesn't bother you until you have the opportunity to experience it for yourself then you realize pnp is not the right way to go. Yea I was one of the guys hey look hids blah blah inexpensive upgrade for years until more and more guys starting running them around here then once I had experienced what I was doing to other drivers. I pulled them after and went back to halogens. Then retrofit eventually came and I made and sold a few sets and never looked back.

How much is it for a retro conversion?? I was wanting to get HIDs but after reading this I'm rethinking it. But i don't really want to take apart my headlight and do the retro conversion myself

The housings are different on both cars. The 04's have much better lighting. The ebay black headlights also have smaller chrome reflectors compared to a stock light.

I would go retro and if you don't have the money for them just get a better halogen bulb until you do. You can also ruin a headlight harness with halogen bulbs to give them more voltage.

I 100% agree that everyone should do retro-fitted headlights. Or at least ebay projector headlights. But that being said, I will never again run a halogen bulb. Stock housing or not I will always use HIDs from now on. They are that much better then halogens.

Obviously HID conversions in a reflective housing are not going to work as well as a full retrofit setup. I'm not just trying to push product, I'm just offering a suggestion to help the OP out.

He's looking for a new headlight upgrade, and our 35 watt HID conversion kits don't produce glare as bad as the 55 watt kits other companies push. I've had our 6000K HID conversion in both of my cars with reflective housings and I've never been flashed for my lights, not once.

An $89 solution for better lighting at night vs. a $200-$300 retrofit setup
