I guess this falls into appearance. I don't see anyplace to put "ID 10 T" type things, so here goes.

ID 10 T attempted to break into car by popping the lock on the driver's side door. Of course, the vibration sets the Viper off (cuz yours truly was at least brilliant enough to get the one with all the glass sensors so any little thing sets it off), so ID 10 T goes running away.

Exactly how does one go about fixing this? The lock is not broken I don't think. I mean, I can get my key into it. It's just recessed inside the freakin' door. I guess I have to rip that door panel off (again) which that hasn't been done since the audio install in 03? Or should I leave it to the professionals and actually pay someone to fix it?

It's not like I actually use the key. It just looks like crap. Thus the appearance thread.

Annoying. (It is always something with the Great White Ghost.)

make sure your door actually locks though, I know on my silverado's if the lock gets pushed in like that it would not lock at all.
If you never actually use the key just get rear door handle and put them on the front, that way there is no lock cylinder at all.

    It locks.

I can't imagine the what the ID 10 T was thinking. He would not have been happy with all the bolts in that head unit anyway. I can't count the number of grubby hands that have tried to swipe it without success.

Bad thing is I have a good idea who the culprit was. A true coward on so many levels.

Just ticks me off. One more thing for me to fix, you know.

it sucks to have to fix something because somebody thought they wanted (needed) it more than you.

if you get a replacement cylinder, most good locksmiths should be able to re-key the lock for you (or perhaps even repair the one you've got) but i do think you'll need to remove the door panel and take the cylinder out.

The lock works. It just looks like crap is all.

They would have a really difficult time getting anything out of there. Everything is bolted into something else. There is nothing that is a yank and pull type deal.
