So, i've recently decided to install HID's long overdue after years of running fake out 6k cheap halogen bulbs and hating the light output. I went to have the single beam HID's installed and they wouldn't stay on 100% of the time.. Sometimes they'd work fine other times only 1 would work or none. They thought it was a bad set so ordered another one and same thing just not as bad. So as there gift to me for going through all that aggravation they ordered me a set of the more expensive more reliable bi xenon's. I thought it was great till I realized the light was scattered everywhere and I can't see as well as with the single beam HID set (when it actually worked). Needless to say the installation shop washed there hands of it and won't help me with my scattering issues. My question is: Is there any way for me to fix this light scattering issue now after the fact? or do I just have to deal with it and be pissed off?:

    Do you have HID projectors?
Because if you're just sticking HID bulbs into the stock reflector housings then there's your problem.

umm no. What are HID projectors? Do you mean projector housings? Then the answer is no. I didn't buy projectors after reading all the negative feedback on here about their poor quality. They still can't make a half way decent projector housing for these cars apparently

even the aftermarket projector headlights are meant for halogen bulbs.

the only way to get real useable light out of a HID is to retrofit a set of stock housings with a real set of HID projectors. otherwise you're always going to have scattering problems and no matter how you point the headlights, even really low, you'll be blinding oncoming traffic 75% of the time. the stock housings, or even aftermarket versions, are simply not meant for plug and play HID kits. you'd be better off getting a better set of halogen bulbs to use.

^^ yeah well that doesn't help me now that I've spent the 200 bucks for the whole HID system "installed" I'm not going back now. So my original question still stands. Is there any way to retrofit the bulbs or housings to not scatter the light? I know the problem is that stupid shield in the assembly b/c when i turn the high beams on and the bulb pushes out viola no more scattering (but then the light is high and for sure blinding everyone and not to mention is a narrow beam which doesn't allow me to see out to the sides far enough). I don't think I can just take the shield out b/c surely it must serve a purpose, (moisture??), plus it is screwed in. Suggestions?

the scattering issue is the bulb position. you have to make an adapter that'll more the filament to the same spot that stock is. look at the bulbs in comparison to the stock ones and take note of where the filaments lie. they are in different spots.

I see what you mean about the HID projectors; but from what I was able to google, it seems they can only be installed if you take the headlight lense off? Does anybody on here have HID projectors that are running stock headlight designs? Where Do i buy them/which one would fit?

I see what you mean the filaments do not line up! But how would I adapt this? What can I change? Has anyone done this and gotten better results?

you need to make a spacer that allows you to still clip the bulb into the housing.

The kit itself didn't cost $200 but I had a kustom shop associated with a local dealer put them in b.c I didn't have time for the aggravation... silly me everything I do is NEVER simple.

Bio, Do you know of anyone that has done this/what material is good to make a spacer out of?

Yes, I found a thread on clubgp.com that would be perfect for me; but its from 2009 and all of the pictures and stuff are gone so I have no idea what it is they are talking about exactly. Something about moving the bulb 1/10 of an inch and needing a measurement of 1.5" from the base to center of the filament. Without pictures to see what they're talking about its useless... it seems a fix (if I had stock assemblies) would be to just pull that shield right out; but aftermarkets are screwed in so it'd involve taking the lenses off.. of which i'm not sure how to do.
