I've got a '98 Black GP GTP Coupe, and I've been looking to do a lot of body work to it. One of my first projects I would like to do would be to get some stripes on the car. One thought crosses my mind though, I plan in the future to get a carbon fiber hood with Ram Air, and I was wondering if I should wait until after that to put stripes on it? Or if I should scrap the thought of a carbon fiber hood and get an SD hood with Ram Air?
In any case, I'm looking for some example pictures of some black grand prix's with stripes, and thoughts and opinion on color and such. I want to get my calipers painted red and get red badging overlays, so I was thinking maybe I should get (a) red stripe(s)?
    Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

i dont know about red. there is a possibility it could look good. but my opinion i would go with a dark silver metallic. and if your wanting stripes i say dont get the CF hood. just get a F1 or SD or WS6 hood and have it painted and put stripes on it.

it'll probably be awhile before i get a hood, but i think i like the SD hood. But do you think it'd be worth it if i got stripes now, then when i got the hood replaced, get it re-striped?

When you said you gp was black and wanted opinions on color, red popped in my head also. Seen alot of red gp's trimed in black so with a good design of stripes, I think it would look pretty good.

Depends if you don't mind spending the extra money. Me personally, I would get my hood then do the stripes. No sense in spendind money twice for the same thing. It can be used for the next thing on your list.

What about paint and installation? Just looking for something relatively simple, but still effective looking.

Should be able to get either on painted for under a 100 bucks. May have to put a few buck if you get the wing, but installation can be done yourself. The wing bolts right in the factory holes of your oem one and I beleive the front lip is 3M tape and your existing screws in your fender well. This is just my 2 cents on how I would go about it. Which ever way you decide is going to look awsome. Just gotta put some pics up and show it off.

I'll get some pics up in awhile. I wanted to get the badging overlayed, the calipers painted, and whatever i plan on doing for christmas done.
Also, anyone know what it would cost to get a bumper fixed? The bottom left side is punched it, basically a big dent, and it forced the left exhaust down. So im looking to get that repaired and the exhausted raised up again. I'll post pics of that hopefully tomorrow.

Theres a thread on here somewhere that a couple members fixed their front bumper. If you feel like looking for it, use the search. If I come across it again, I'll post the link up for you.

I'll keep a look out for that. And I'll keep thinking about what I want to do. I could easily burn a good 8 or 9 grand on this car... that's money I don't have. >.>

i say wait and get the hood. then do stripes. there is a place that sales vinyl stripes made specificly for 97-03 grand prix's and diff hood opitions. but i love the look of the SLP spoiler from 3800performance.com. not as bulky. looks more smooth. i say wait. get the hood and the slp spoiler and then paint and do stripes then it would look killer

and if the GP isnt your DD you could go a little more custom. shave the trunk lock. de-ribb the bumpers. just more time and money. but the end result is worth it. i just got done priming my car after de-rib bumpers, shave trunk lock, and de-door ding protectors. im at school but ill post some pics after school.

Here is the punched in bumper and hanging exhaust. Disregard the low quality of my camera phone and the lovely editing on the plate.
