I was told stock could damage or break the hood because I guess it pushes the hood up to fast? Is this true and do you have a inferno hood with stock hood struts? I just want to make sure this thing doesnt crack or break on me when I get it

No I don't but as long as I've been around the numerous forums the guys have been running stock hood struts without any issues or you could go the basic route and just use a prop stick or something similar.

Do they use one or both stock struts? I thought most of the glass hoods used only one because they were so light.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Mine has two but it catapults the hood up really fast and has stress marks all over the hood.

Alright so for me it looks like I am either going with the prop rod or just one of the struts. I think I am going with the prop rod so I don't end up with stress cracks.

I hear the 97-03 struts are weaker than the 04+, does anyone know if this is true? I love not having a prop rod lol

I have the SD hood for my 97.

I use both stock hood struts and haven't had a problem.

It seems like I might be able to get away with using the stock hood struts but I am just unsure because I have heard of the hood warping or not lining up correctly because of them. Now to decide if I take the risk or not

Mine stays on all the time so that could have an effect on the hood.
