    I hope this is under the right topic... I am wondering if it bothers if you replace your stock gear shifter with a different one. Because the stock one had the button you have to push to "unlock" the next gear so you dont acidently shift from Drive to Reverse. How is that affected if you put a different one on there? Thanks!

    Well for the 04+ if u put a new shifter on u have to push down to do it or get another one with a pull button to push the release button to change gears

    I've used different ones on most of my cars. Right now my Regal is rocking a Bonneville one. Works great
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    its an 08, so it doesnt bother then eh? guess i will just have to be careful if i dont get on with the pull button. what is the size of the shaft?

    Dunno.. pull yours off and measure. I used GM ones from the same era and never took a measurement. GM standardizes most of it's stuff to keep up happy and swapping things if we want to.

    alright.... well i had a mind to get something catchy and aftermarket like a skull or a six shooter chamber and i dont think gm makes those lol

    U can get any someone else has a grenade on theirs. The only thing is you'll have to push down on the top.instead of pull a button. Cause when u pull the button on the stock on it pushes the button on the top down

    well dont you have to tighten the shifter down with a screw? thats how the stock is.
