Heres the deal. I bought 2 foglight bulbs last year for $40. They were definitly an improvement but I had one go out last night. I know it will be about $20 to replace so I was thinking maybe just doing something else. I have already juggled around the idea of HID in them but have heard some bad things about that. I plan on retrofitting my headlights in a year or so probably so I figured the fogs should match. Odds are I won't be using the fogs while im driving on the road anyway but I do alot of country road driving and unfortunatly during hunting season I use my car offroad too. I could actually use them in these types of situations so its not like they would be 100% useless. Basically I want a little bit of a different look too. Any suggestions about what I should do?

Get Pilot's or Blazertechs...they're cheap enough...Mike (99PGPGT) has a few pics of the easy little bracket he made for them...but your factory ones will melt with HID's if you don't upgrade or get '03 or LE fogs.

I loved my HID fogs though, bright as hell. From www.vvme.com

With Blazertechs aren't they the glass lense that will shatter or am I thinking of something else?

I had hids in my factory housings and the original oem ones the front lense melted since the bulb sits really close. But I bought new housings aftermarket oem style and had the same hid kit in there. Year with use everyday even in the 100 degree summer and it didn't melt. I think it's hit or miss but the fogs I got from napa worked pretty good and they were hella bright, especially with the 3k bulbs. I'm a big fan of 3k fogs

It's because plastic vs. glass housings.

    That's why.

    Lies.

My 35watt kit melted the **** out of the silver cars housings. Not the lens, but the entire plastic housing was all warped beyond use.

    Lies.

Back in the day I was on jscgp and this debate came up. It was pretty much hit or miss, some guys the whole housing collapsed in and some guys like me just had a little melting on the stock housings. Like I said the aftermarket oem fogs I got had no problems whatsoever and were bright as ****

I have Blazertech's... Good stuff, and happy with them BUT...

If i wanted to go bigger id go with a PIAA (510) model is 4" and aavailable in driving or fog light. Metal and glass like the Blazertechs. Big bucks though.

I had to make a bracket special even with the bracket supposedly made to work with GP I still had to mod it to line up correctly. . But after that the harness and all was good. Supplements the headlights well and is almost double the wattage (blazers)of the stock fogs.

I drove my blue car with glass fogs on the daily.

    Don't worry about it.

40 bucks for two 880 fog lights bulbs? You buying lights made of gold?

They should be like 8 bucks a pop at napa.

Anyways, get the upgraded housing for the fog lights, yes they are glass and rarely break. They make a film you can put over them to protect them further.

If you are worried about shattering a glass lens then just get some x-pel or lamin-x type material. That is what I did with the optilux fogs that I'm currently using. I have haad glass lenses shatter in the past, so this time I went with x-pel.

There are also projector P6 fogs on ebay that look good.

Yeah I'm with guz, I used lamin-x on the blazers. Along with 35w h3c bulbs. They are bright as hell and easy to put together. They are also larger than the stock fogs, they are 4" in diameter and fill up the tunnels.

Anyone have these? Wouldn't have an issue with heat.

2 PC 7W High Power Xenon White 880 881 LED Bulbs for Car Fog Lights or Driving | eBay

I'd put them in mine but my fogs are starting to melt and if I pulled a bulb out, I don't think I'd get another bulb to stay in correctly. So I'm going to need new housings.
