This might be a newb question, but I do need an answer.

I just got my 2004 GT2, and it's the stock Storm Gray color. The first visual thing I'd like to do is paint the engine cover, and I'd like the base color of that to match the body color. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any good automotive spray paints that match this color, or if I really need to take it to a shop. And if I do take it to a shop, does anyone know about how much they cost for basic services, along the lines of color matching, minor scratch touch ups, interior plastic color, and some other minor things. I've never had to use a place like that so I honestly have no idea if I'm looking at 50-60 bucks or thousands.

    Thanks!

"Storm Gray" was not a color name in 2004.

Your paint code should be found in one of two RPO code locations:
    1) RPO #2 Inside Trunk Deck Lid
    2) RPO #1 Spare Tire Cover

Here's a list of 2004 Grand Prix color code info.

    Chip Color Code(s) Color Description
    12, 519F, WA519F Galaxy Silver Metallic
    15, 929L, WA929L Cashmere Metallic
    32, 648H, WA648H Dark Otter Metallic
    40, 8554, WA8554 White
    41, 8555, WA8555 Black
    47, 9539, WA9539 Medium Green Metallic
    56, 913L, WA913L Sunburst Orange II Metallic
    63, 817K, WA817K Sport Red Metallic
    812K, 88, WA812K Medium Spiral Gray Metallic

You can even order directly from here: Pontiac Paint Code Locations | Touch Up Paint | AutomotiveTouchup | 888-710-5192

No problem, since you're planning on doing the engine cover, Krylon Fusion would make a good inexpensive base, and help smooth out some of the dimples.

Awesome, thanks. The guy I bought the car from prayed the whole engine cover a flat black. Do I need to sand off his work first, or should I be fine to just prime and paint over that?
