I was looking at doing some upgrades to my 2008 GT and came across the Inferno package. First, it looks really cool. Second, it saves a bit of weight. Second has more benefit for me since I like pushing my car. They have the option between fiberglass or carbon fiber. Does the carbon fiber kit offer more of a weight savings? I know in general, carbon fiber parts are lighter than fiberglass but it depends on who makes it.

Second, are there other body parts out there that drop lbs and still look good (or better)?

The car weighs 3480 ish lbs.

The minmal weight savings the car "body kit" will do is nothing that you would even notice.

The inferno kit is only for looks, and thats it.

Also, in 2008 they never made a GT, only a base model with a single exhaust ( Special edition cars had 2, but still base) or the GXP V8 car.

Inferno package is an aftermarket body package that has a hood, front skirt, and spoiler. Grand Prix Inferno Ram Air Hood - PFYC.com

There are two options for hood: fiberglass or carbon fiber

Description of hood " boasts a weight savings of almost 25% (over 10 lbs) compared to the stock hood". I'm wondering if the weight savings advertised is for the fiberglass version or if both weigh about the same.

    Better?

I bet a whole Dollar against the 10lb savings being lost once you put on the front skirt and bigger spoiler.

Don't worry about saving weight, car will be still be heavy even if you do weight reduction mods, and the car wasn't designed to go fast enough for aerodynamics to really kick into effect. Just throw mods at it, make it faster, enjoy sleeper status.

You realize it's a Grand Prix not a Sti track car right?. The weight savings you would never notice...wanna save weight. Rip out interior..carpet etc. Plus the so called 'Carbon fiber' isn't really carbon fiber it's more of a vinyl overlay. Looks like poo poo.
Squirrels are my engine. I need a Ford Regal
