I Was wondering the best way to get the "gtp supercharged" badge off of the side of my 99 gp without chipping paint, scratching etc.
I'm curious because i am going to be getting replacement badges from reflective concepts in a few months.

strong fishing line! get a long enough piece, hold tight w/ both hands, slide it between the car and the badge, and pull down!
i use my nail 2 get the residue off!
i've heard that you can take dental floss or like string material and run it behind the emblem to cut through the adhesive...then you'll have to get adhesive remover to remove the residue left behind
Thanks a bunch. Follow up question about the adhesive remover. Wouldn't something strong enough to remove the adhesive like goof off also strip the paint?
^^^test in a spot that is no very visible to see before trying anything like that on your paint.......but goo gone did help remove bumper stickers from my little bro's 1990 240 and we had no paint damage or hazing
Dental floss to remove the badge. Goo Gone makes a spray gel that likes to stay where you spray it specifically for automotive applications. I've used it lots and it has never hurt my paint. Works wonders, too.
you can also go to ur local auto parts store and get "adhesive remover"...comes in a can similar to paint thiner or accetone...i used that when i de-lettered a trailer and it didn't eat the paint or anything like that
Why are you waiting so long? They're all over the internet, plus you can get them from your dealership.
DON'T FORGET! You should take a picture or measure the place where the old badge was or it might not look right, I made the same mistake the first time and had mine up an inch to high. If you have a friend with a GTP it should be even easier.
Thanks, its good to know that i don't have to worry too much about messing up the paint especially if i am using a more delicate method.
Thanks, yea i am going to order the two for the sides the front Pontiac symbol and the word "Pontiac" for the back from reflective concepts. Im am at school right now and im waiting a few months till i get home to do the job. Im also going to put on my "coming soon" mods in my sig. I cant wait but i decided not to put them on before school as my car is my DD and my school is 2 hours away from my home. Last thing i need happening is a problem when i am 2 hours away from a shop i can access for free.
No problem, I doubt anything can go bad with some badges so they shouldn't really matter, you never know the longer you wait the better things can get for you. Not sure if you looked into some colored ones to match your car, sometimes they don't look too bad. If you need anything else feel free to ask.
Thanks, yea i was more concerned with the other mods causing a difficulty [the plugs, 3.5pulley and 180* t-stat]. I was gonna wait so i can get all that and the badges done at the same time. I am most likely going to go with a yellow color scheme as my Break calipers are already yellow [the car is black]. I already priced it out and the badges/stickers i want [with the reflect dome] come out to be around $100.
For what it's worth. Every badge I have ever taken off... I've just grabbed it, and ripped it off by hand.
Then taken 'Goo Gone' to remove the junk.
