What are some inexpensive mods that I can do to my Car. I want to start getting into shows, if that is feasable. At this point, I really don't want to go with the Chrome, as of now.

I am considering changing all the spark plugs and wires. All the tubing, either buying new ones, or taking them off and painting them. Also, painting the raised letters on the shield is another thing. K&N CIA is a possibity. Also, I will be getting more decals.

Here is a pic of the engine. Any idea's?

If my pics are not working, please email me, I may have moved the pics on a different page on Photobucket. Thanks

Not to burst your bubble but it will take a lot more than a couple of cans of red spray paint to make your car showable.A little advice get a theme going and check out some other engine bays to get some ideas

Remove the engine cover, remove the hood mat, paint the coolant bottle, sand down then paint the fuse cover, get a CAI (Not a K&N), fill the grooves and paint the valve cover, cover the battery, get some custom work done that no one else has, get a fancy oil filler cap, coolant overflow cap, brake fluid cap, remove the black engine hoist brackets, remove all the stickers, etc....

WOW, a shot of humility please.

This is only the beginning, I will add more, I am not in any way, a mechanic, and don't want to go doing something that will cost me twice as much more to fix. I would in fact no way feel comfortable with taking, cleaning and painting the UIM. I did paint the raised letters on the shield. I like the shield. I will think of keeping or losing that. I did lose the insulator mat, I may keep it and paint it black with GT in Red.

Street wolf, you have some simple do able idea's. My Neighbor is going to help me, I did his Vette by detailing the paintwork.

I just now noticed the engine hoist bracket. I saw it today when I was cleaning it more. Here is the latest pic with the raised letters painted.

If my pics are not working, please email me, I may have moved the pics on a different page on Photobucket. Thanks

Well it certianly looks a little better with the letters painted a different color. Your car though, so do whatever you wish to do as far as looks. Just figured I would list as many free, cheap, do it yourself mods as I could so you can pick and choose which to do.

I thank you for the criticism, this is a work in progress. How many of these parts can you get locally, Autozone and what do you need to special order? I am not a chrome kinda guy. Atleast for what car and year I have. I will take all these suggestions, and work on them one day at a time.

Really I don't see you being able to get much of anything locally from Auto Zone to tell the truth. I suppose you could probably pick up some MSD wires or something, but thats about it.

Get some white wire loom and replace all the black. It'll help everything jump out more. Inexpensive way to help make it stand out more. Black would just blend in with the engine and make it look like to much red.The white would help brake everything up. Here's a pic of mine. Don't mind the dirt, car sat for a couple of years and everything needs to be redone. Colors are kind of played out know, but just to give you a idea with the loom and all.

Yea, I'm getting to it. Haven't gotten around to getting the recovery bottle moved and didn't want the pcm flopping around. Had it zip tied, but didn't like the way it was sitting in there. Gonna redo the whole intake and get a pcm tray for it.

I've got mine just sitting on the metal beneath where the airbox was, for the record.

That's how mine was and just didn't look right to me and didn't want to mess anything up. But that was a few years ago. And now that I've been on here and heard of poeple doing it, I guess I would have been alright, just haven't gotten around to taking it out or anything. Trying to fix my random stalling problem. Do you know where I can get a factory trunk spoiler really cheap. I want to get that crap off my car. Don't do the car show thing much any more.

I can try and find you a spoiler on Monday if you want me too. Think I might know where a white one is. Other than that the only place I can think of getting one at is a local junkyard, if you have one around you. Or Ed.

I am going to do that as well. I need to get a connection to my laptop and send a pic of the mods that I would like to do with the engine.
If my pics are not working, please email me, I may have moved the pics on a different page on Photobucket. Thanks

Is there a place that I can get most of this, to save on shipping. This will be funded by my 2nd job. I want to replace all the caps - Radiator, Brake, Washer, Radiator Resevoir, Oil, Oil dipstick, Tranny Dipstick. Is there a place I can get all these?

Here is what I have been working on.

Everything in blue, I want to change. Mostly these are the caps and wires and looms

Everything in black, I am thinking of painting differently. On the the brackets, I would either go with one or the other, what would look better? Also the mounts, would it look tighter if I outlined those? Or had a contrast in color between the raised and not raised sections?

Everything in yellow, I am 86'ing. Are these stickers necessary? I will be replacing them with decals.

Is there a place to find chrome nuts? without the wife chroming mine?

If my pics are not working, please email me, I may have moved the pics on a different page on Photobucket. Thanks
