Now that my current project is finished and the weather is getting nice, I'm gunna be moving on to seriously planning tint. Probably gunna go 35% all around, maybe 20... They seem almost the same.

Anyways, my friend has tinted a few of his own cars and some friends, he does a great job so I'm gunna have him do the windows, but I'm gunna take it to a pro to do the back window since it can be difficult to do right. Any ideas how much a shop would charge for only the rear window on a gp?

I took mine to a guy at the local flea market who has had his tent there for 10+ years. He did all 4 doors and the rear window for $100 with a lifetime warranty.

shop by me wanted over a 100 for just the back window, i got a pre cut 20% off ebay and installed it myself, for 15 bucks. they sell tint for evey window of the car for about 50. any % you want. items in Precision Window Films Automotive Precut Window Tint Kits store on eBay!

and there is a difference between 20 and 35. 20% is darker, im running 20 on the rears and 35 up front. 5% brow that cost 5 bucks iirc.

if your friend has a heat gun it should be ok to try yourself. you need to shrink it to the outside and then put it on the inside.

this is the place i used, the tint is more than ok, its not really pre cut, but it does have perforated holes to cut along. ships in a thick cardboard tube with in days to your door.

this place is a tint shop and this is what they install on customers cars.

My friend got pre cut tint off ebay for like 15-20 bucks and he ordered 30%. When it came in, because im super cool we measured it and it was 5% put it on real quick re measured it and it was 7%. Called the seller, swore up and down that it was 30%, called us liers and refused to refund the money.
Needless to say, ordering per cut tint is a big risk, kinda like going with DDM hids instead of VVME. Never know what your going to get.

I just called two guys Saturday about doing a tint job for my GP. One informed me that he would charge me $360.00 for all of the windows to be tinted with 3M Window Film, while the other guy said he would do all the windows for only $200.00 with a five year warranty using Johnson Window Film. The price different was unbelievable. I'm not sure why there is such a huge price different, but I'm willing to go with the cheaper option. Now if you just want your back window tinted I can imagine it would cost probably around $80-$110 to have it done properly. Nothing drops the value of the car faster than a horrible window tint job.

the place i used and linked there has good reviews, all of the neg reviews were due to user failure on the install. i had no problem with my order at all, and like i said it was at my door in days, 4 i think.

How long have you had the tint on the car? I hear dyed tint starts to change colors and go purple pretty quickly... and dyed is what they're advertising on this ebay page.

Otherwise it sounds like a great option, I've just read everywhere, tint is one thing for sure you get what you pay for.

had it on for almost a year, no problems yet. no purple at all.

and it takes a heat gun well, being a rookie at tinting, i spend about 1 hr shrinking the back window to fit. the brow's are not pre cut, you need to cut them to fit, then shrink it to fit.
