read the whole thread, its basically trouble shooting the entire install process.

there's more to it then you think, but all in all mine work perfect now

Personally, instead of trimming the newer speedo, I'd hold out till I found a 2nd newer gauge cluster, and use the other tach needle for the speedo needle. Looks like it would be the perfect size.

thought of doing that, except its too small, by a good margin..

so its just easier to trim the bigger needle

Well I installed 04 needles. One, I never want to do it again, that bs was for the birds. That tiny ass needle it's impossible to get dead on. Trial and error for sure.

    Anyway couple questions.

I ran into the same issue with the speedo hitting the face of the cluster, nipped that in the ass and took wire cutters and just cut a piece of the bottom portion where the needle slips on the guide. Badaboom badabing no more hangin up.

I am curious how to trim the speedo needle?

AND my car... the gas and the temp gauge have NEVER went down to "0", they always stay where they're at. Well. Now when I turn the car off, both needles fall. So idk if I broke something trying to do it. All I know is they work when the car is on, this was not a job for me, I'm too aggressive for delicate jobs like this lol.

EDIT: see vid http://s96.beta.photobucket.com/user...6FB39.mp4.html it should not do that.

BUT Gerard...it looks like yours do the same thing man. In this pic http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...20424_0002.jpg you got the same deal it looks like

Brandon don't worry mine do it too I believe there just heavier . We're talking precise milligrams that will cause that lol . Plus sometimes they won't catch the needle stops if not adjusted right .

well rpm and speedo function properly but gas and temp don't have those stops. and have never fallen. they've always stayed put.

BUT I'm glad to know yours did it too (and I think Gerard's). I thought I had broken it

Great. Well I thought I had remedied the big needle getting stuck against the plastic face of the cluster BUUUUT yeah no. It drags around 40-50mph it'll get stuck. So either I want another rpm needle to put on the speedo or I need a better solution

My speedo needle gets caught up right around 50-70 mph. No idea how to fix the hang up. But it eventually catches up.

I just live with it and use my Heads Up Display during the time being.

Your speedo needle should be trimmed a little more

well I haven't trimmed any of the length yet. It's catching based on the thickness of the center part.

What I think I'm gonna do is just get me another set and use the same size that we used on the rpm gauge on the speedo. that way it all fits. It just lacks a hair of fitting. And I'm scared if I press much harder on the needle i'm gonna press right through the cluster. I'm not so good with delicate nice/neat mods

the RPM needle will be pretty small on the Speedo. Trim the speedo down, thats what i did.

I laid my stock Speedo needle next to the 04+ Needle, took a razor blade and cut the 04+ needle to the same length as my stock one. I cut the end of the 04+ Needle in the shape of a "V" or point, just two diagonal cuts.

    Turned out very nice.

Well that's fine well and good. But I've already trimmed the piece of the big needle that slips on the needle of the speedo. And I can't get it to push on anymore. I can't have it dragging and getting caught on the face of the thing. What do you suggest?

I trimmed that area too. I lined up my stock needle to the 04+ and trimmed the back part to equal length, actually a hair shorter, and then sanded the tip of it so it was nice and smooth. Mine still occasionally hangs up but every so often.
