hair dryer or even better a heat gun help soften the adhesive up too if you have that available to you as well just dont let a heat gun sit too long or too close in one spot keep it moving and a little distance from the paint surface 6-10 inches or so

roof rails arnt worth taking off to refinish and fishing line wont cut through the adhesive for the rails. most likely its just your clear coat peeling. you can get 1500 wet sand paper and sand down your rails (you can go lower with sand paper grit if your skilled enough to not burn through the clear) lay down a few layers of tape so you dont scratch you paint and sand them lightly one you sand off your clear coat you can just re clear them you dont have to spray color too. This will help you save money because i can almost guarantee you a pint of paint for your car is $60+ so id be care full. But if you decide to take them off and refinish them my thread on how to do it might help you out a little. http://www.grandprixforums.net/how-p...ils-59977.html let me know if you need any help or advise.
