First of all, let me apologize because I'm sure the answers to my questions are wildly spread out all over the place. My problem is that for some reason the site is not letting me search "HID," or "hid." So after about an hour and a half of googling and reading posts in here I'm still left with questions and I don't have a lot of time left (my car is in the body shop and I want to replace the headlights with projectors instead of stockers and I need to do something very soon).

I really want HIDs because everyone seems to swear by them. I've read that projectors are the way to go if you want HIDs. The problem is that I've seen a lot of people have a myriad of issues that I didn't even know existed. So if I were to get these, what would I need to know before hand?

    Thanks man.

One thing I'm not sure about is how just the halos and LEDs turn on. What would be sweet is if you could wire it so the DRLs were just the halos and LEDs and then the headlights were...well just the headlights at night, you know? I have no freaking clue how all this stuff works.

i too am interested in halos such as those but being the cheap person i am i wasnt gonna go with hid's. should i take the hit? and i totally agree with the having just halo's on during the day and actual headlights on at night. theres probably a write up on it somewhere on here though... also, will there be ANY fitment issues with those particular headlights posted in that link?

the easiest way would be to wire them in with ur headlights. but if u wired em in with ur running lights, or fogs even, u could change it up some. just an idea

Are the issues people have more associated with trying to run HIDs in stock housings? I saw a lot of stuff with people having to figure out how the make the bulbs fit just like the halogens did, stuff like that....

I got the standard 9007 single beam HID kit with relay harness from vvme.com and the whole thing is plug and play. The light output is way better and the install took me around an hour because I never did it before.

Here is my write up on these headlights and how they work:

    http://www.grandprixforums.net/f14/d...rkk-27293.html

I have HID's in them and they work perfectly fine. Make sure you get an H3 HID kit because that is the type of bulb that these take for the low beams. Wiring is really easy too. I don't outline how to do the headlights, but I wouldn't mind showing you through PMs. The Headlight comes with it's own halogen bulb too, so you don't need to get HID's in them right away. I got my HID kit from VVME also, good quality and very happy with them.

depending on what you are looking for, depends on what you choose. If you are just talking about using the stock housings use the 9007 bulb.

If you get the dual hi/lo kit, it will come with the wiring harness, so you don't need to get it. The dual means the hi and low beams are HID. This is what I have and I didn't get an eliminator.

If you get the single kit, the low will be HID and the hi will be halogen (regular bulb kind, just like you have now). You would then need to add on the harness for $15.

*note* With the dual hi/lo HID bulb, the bulb has a magnet in it to move the filiment inside to change it to get a different point in the housing... bottom line is that the hi beams are worthless and I always keep them on lo. Also, I was parked next to a friends G8 GT and he couldn't get his hi or lo beams to overpower mine. I also drove 2000 miles from Colorado to Alabama and never wished I had a hi beam. Yes, I did drive at night.

good kit, I'd recommend it. I have the 35W 5000K color as I hate the 6000k blue color.

99% of the 9007 HID bulbs are wrong... You have to mod them to get hte most output.

The top of the flange to the middle of the filiment should be 1.75" but it probably wont be.

yeah, hat Matt said is right. All the info is in the thread I posted above. The light output pic of mine is with them unmodded. I don't have plans on doing it either, but probably should.

I went with 35 because I read that 55 could melt the housings. After I made the order I was reading that it really won't. So I can't really help ya there, personal preference... and I don't know what the extra $20 would get you since the light is off from the get go.

oh yeah, took a long time to show up from DDM, about two weeks, if not a little longer. Combination of them having a sale, and order from Japan the same time the Toyota BS was going on. It took a long time to get through customs (according to the friendly rep at DDM)

just putting them in makes them worth your money and time.

Modding them gives you that extra light output that makes you say "**** projectors".

Though high beams would be nice...

yeah, proper high beams would be nice, like on my truck.... oh well. At least I can see at night.

I'm just afraid to mod them, screw it up, and then have worthless bulbs. ...ya know...
