I just bought a 2000 Grand Prix GT, and it has the tan leather interior. The leather in it, is extremely hard, and it seems to be starting to crack. I have been using Meguiars leather conditioner & cleaner on it. It seems to not be helping, whatsoever. Any tips or better products to use on it? Thanks!

You are using the correct products on it....but it may be too late. Those products are preventative, not restoring.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

Correct. For starters, we don't exactly have high quality leather in our cars to begin with. Even if properly taken care of, they tend to harden and crack much quicker than cars that have decent leather in them. Secondly, if this has already started happening, most of the damage is not reversible. You may get them to soften up a bit with several coats of some really good leather conditioner, but it's never going to be "like new" again.

That being said, I highly recommend the Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner products. The "2 in 1" stuff is BS in my opinion. I'm a big fan of thoroughly cleaning something before you worry about, or get to the conditioning part of it. Also, Lexol specializes in leather care (specifically for horse saddles and such). The cleaner is even pH balanced, and the conditioner carries the same oils used to make leather in the first place. Plus it smells awesome (like new leather)! I've always had very good luck with their stuff. I'd give it a try before you give up on the seats. You can buy them at just about any car parts store, and even some major retailers carry them.

You do realize that only the center section of our seats are leather the sides that crack are plather(sp) a plastic that has the look of leather. Love GM cost counters. leather products will not help the sides you need something for plastic and so far I have not found a good product for keeping the sides in good shape. Mine cracked and the cost of a whole leather seat was out of my price range so I recovered mine in cloth.

well i use zaino leather products and it is restorative i have found. my leather was beautiful and in good condition but a couple spots had seen more sun than others.

even on the sides of the seats, i found that using a wet sponge with the cleaner product yielded the best results

yeah it's like $20-30 bucks to the door but it works.

if you dont like that idea maybe you should try this... Premium Car Care & Car Detailing Products - Car Wax - Car Polish ? Car Shine - Wheel Cleaners
never used it but someone mentioned before that it's great stuff so i bookmarked it. believe me im all about some soft leather now.
