Unfortunately 99% of the general public knows nothing about cars and wouldn't look twice if we put Honda badges on our cars, let alone a different looking Grand Prix badge.

It'd be free bro.. they're just badges.. lol

Well anyways, I goo gone'd it and bought some 2000 grit paper, and started wetsanding the "G" in Grand Prix..

I got it to where I don't feel a step, but now it's hazy and not shiny any more..

Any way to get the shine back? I waxed it a couple of times but couldn't get it back.. if I can get the shine back I'll continue but for now I'm thinking I'm gonna lay a piece of black vinyl between the tail lights on the trunk to cover this up. Then continue with my idea.

    ??

buff it with rubbing compound, then glaze and finish it off with a wax to protect.

You had the trunk repaited right? The emblem removal should have been in the final invoice/estimate. The paintshop cut a corner and now you have to pay for it.

If it was an insurance deal they(your insurance co.) will have a field day with that ****.

Personally I'd take the car back to the paint shop and speak with the body shop manager and have them repaint it. Because they obviously cut a corner even though you(or the insurance co paid for it).

If the insurance company paid for it then I'd contact them and let them handle it. They love **** like this because they caught the bodyshop doug something they shouldn't.

    To answer your question though:

3M rubbing compound and a high speed buffer should take most of it out. However, it will still have a paint/clear line there.

That is exactly what i want to do. I just de-badged last night. I didnt use goo-gone I used rubbing alcohol. Then I had a little paint fade and I had to do a good buff job. I just did like 3 coats of wax and some elbow grease. But now I wanna put on some GTP badges.

Remove the trunk lid and make your car the first grand prix pickup
Does removing the spare count as weight reduction?

no, thats just glue. get a blow dryer and get the glue to soften as much as possible to the point where its not THAT hot to the point where you can touch and roll it and work it off and you can rub it back and forth with your finger. i had that same thing happen with my trunk letters and it worked fine. you can always scrape with your nail too THEN go at it with compound and finishing polish. i have black and it looks like it never had letters on the trunk to begin with. googone and goofoff are crap imo for removing glue off, as ive tried on my front bumper where i had the 3800-v6 badge on my 98, didnt do a damn thing. good luck
