Ok my sun roof was haveing trouble opening and closing so I put white lithium grease on it and it worked perfect for 2 days. Today I went to close it and the back is coming down before it should and scratching my roof. It slides almost shut then just stops no noise or nothing. Leaves about a quarter inch gap in the back. Please help it raining. I stuck my spare tire on it to kinda hold it closed. Any help on how to fix will be greatly appreciated.

The manufacturer recommends a SMALL amount of graphite, opposed to grease for the lubrication. Aside from that, I think you might need to look at the adjustment. It sounds as if it's too far one direction, causing it to bind.

If there's a 1/4" gap in the back, then that's WAY too much and it actually sounds as if the seal is missing. It should be tight enough all the way around that you cannot slide a piece of paper out of it with it closed.

Look at the adjustment screws on the sides. There are four (I think that quantity is right) screws that allow adjustment up and down. They may be loose or may just need adjusted down. They're slotted holes and if loose, could cause what you're describing.

Check the track where the glass slides through. I bet the plastic part of it is cracked or broken. I had this same issue a while back. Tried adjusting it numerous times with no luck. It will probably have to be replaced. Check your local salvage yard or Morad parts for a replacement.

any results? I recently picked up a 98 with the symptom you described. The sunroof appears (and sounds) like it is moving properly but it won't go copmletely forward enough to suck the rear down into place (about a 1/4" shy). it is also dragging or scratching the paint on the roof. I'm curious what it ended up being. thanks!
