How hard would it be to install heated/cooled cup holders. Something kind of likes these. I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS I think this would be a cool mod to do. I have a idea I just wanna see if someone else has done this or may know of someone who has. If someone has done it how hard was it to do? Thanks

I don't think the heating/ cooling unit would be cheap by any means. As far as Install, it shouldn't be too complicated since the units are all electric. Some plastic or whatever they are made of may need to be trimmed and custom fabbed together to make it fit right.

I think this might work and its WAY LESS EXPENSIVE

    Link1: http://http://www.parts-express.com/...number=320-253
Link2: American Science & Surplus : Peltier Heat Pump

Im assuming if you use a SPDT or a DPDT switch it might just work. Im just not sure which one would be better of the two.

SPDT has one contact, two positions. (single pole, double throw)

DPDT has two contacts, two positions. (double pole, double throw)

well, you'd need two switches anyway unless you wanted one single rocker switch that did all three (heat, off, cool), in which you'd need a triple pole, triple throw switch.

I did some more research and It looks like a DPDT will be the best type for this project. Here is a link to a example. In the example they use a motor but its the same type of setup. http://www.instructables.com/id/HOW-TO%3a-Wire-a-DPDT-rocker-switch-for-reversing-po/

In-case you aren't aware, the electric drink coolers will not cool an already warm drink. They just prevent a cold drink from warming up as quickly.. but not by much.

Found a video on you tube of a Peltier Device in action. YouTube - ‪Thermoelectric Device Demonstration Peltier Effect - Cooling‬‏
From what I have found all you need is a heat sink so you dont fry the Peltier.
