im going to be going the same route you are. im thinking ill go with the graphite shroud for fear of the gatling looking to ricey and flashy. does anyone know if the other shouds listed will fit well with minimal modification?

Letting you know if you think gatling shrouds are minimal modification you're mistaken. You have to hack about half of it away to get it to fit and epoxy to the projector base helps keep the shroud from coming off. You may get the e46-r's to fit decent but any of the shrouds are going to require a good amount of dremeling.

On another note I think some graphite or gunmetal shrouds would look killer. I'm not digging the shiny chrome either really. I may go all black shroud and housing. With black corners it should look good!

I think a black shroud, with housing and corner would look most epic.

I think black gtp's or gp's in general are epic. Wish that was the color of my gtp. Chrome on the front of a red car just doesn't look good imo. I had the front of my car repainted when I put the GTX hood on and the body shop matched the front bottom piece the darker gray of the rear piece where the Pontiac is. It would look good to match the shrouds that darker grey. I don't know all black is pretty tight I think.

I don't see how anyone could get FX-R's into a gp housing really without some major dremeling. The morimotos are a tight fit themselves. The back thread on the projector housing doesn't allow for a lot of torque using the lock ring they give you if you use the nylon washer to seal the back of the housing. I use the nylon washer, usually getting the lock ring about 3 or 4 threads on. I use the 3 tipped washer they give you with the dome part fitting against the back of the headlight housing. Then fit the 1 tip washer TRS gives you against the washer dome. It locks it down considerably tighter. You have to cut the back of the housing flat with a dremel starting out though. It's a lot of finicky, tedious bs to deal with really.

Probably one of the first times I've ever seen this happen on a forum.

Anywhoo...My searches for headlight housings are becoming a pain. I remember when you could pick up a pair on Ebay for $50. Now thanks to the junk projector craze, you can't even find them not paired with the corners....which I don't even need.

Plus all the aftermarket ones are a major pain to seperate. If you find actual oem ones, they're much easier to work with, but are also like $130 per side everywhere I look. You have to look at the bulb holder on the back to tell.

I'm a great guy, easy to get along with but a 20 year young lad cussing and popping his mouth off at me isn't going to fly. Especially when I'm trying to help people. I can care less if I ever sell another set of retro's no skin off my back.

With that being said you can pick up a set of stockers on ebay for roughly $60 shipped but they're not black housings. However that's not a big deal that's why they make paint. You can get black housed lights for $103 shipped on ebay just saw that today.

If you don't want the corners or brackets I may buy them off you, always nice to have a stock pile of parts around.

Does anyone know where I could get just the clear plastic cover for the housing? I have a set of stockers laying around minus the clear plastic lol I think it would be sweet to try to make a set

I doubt you can find just the lenses, shoot for what it's worth buy a $66 dollar set and sell brackets, corners, and bulbs. You could keep your corners and use your stock gm brackets which are much better imo, at least the adjusters.

When I mount the Morimoto's they're level but that doesn't mean when you put them in the car they will be depending on where your adjusters are set at. The adjusters on black oem housings aren't very good.

Just believe in yourself you can do a set of these retro's if you have some decent tools. I have the attatchment that the japs use to do nails with on my dremel. It makes getting into small places easier. Can't beat 160 piece bit kit from dremel for $29.99 at home depot. Has everything you'd ever need to do these lights.

I will have some output pictures pretty soon, just waiting on the snow delete mod to happen. There's 3 feet of ice at my garage door right now. I recommend 880 hid fogs with morimoto's pure awesomeness!
