Not true BUT every car is different. Although IF you have stock fog light housings they WILL melt over a period of time. If you have newer fog light assy's you will be ok.
Get a harness and be safe.. it's not expensive or hard to hook one up.
Most aftermarket assemblies are not 880 bulbs.
We have a 55w HID kit working on my brother GT on his fog light with a relay harness with no problems if that means anything to ya
BTW, don't use them for highs, flashing the ballast on and off will shorten the life of them.
keep your stock ones, i made this mistake and got some glass ones from pilot automotive and they use a h3 bulb and they sucks, the light out put i think is terrible, i used to see everything with my stock lenses with hids now that i got the new ones i cant even see a person standing in front of my car with just my fogs.
Oh and also you might want to get a relay, i shorted out my fogs without a relay
good looking out everyone.. Im running the 35 watt ballasts, I got a relay harness I made a year back I might use just to be safe... thanks everyone... oh how did everyone mount there ballasts for the fog set up
blazer brand projector fog lights use the 880 bulbs, have a great cutoff (easily outperform the stock headlights). The only problem with them os since they are so low you losse some of the distance that they could really help with
I've was lazy, and mounted mine right under the headlight with some 3M double-sided tape, been doing fine. And that's with 2 ballasts on each side.
lol Im lazy too I was thinking the headlight area wasnt to bad of an idea it wouldnt get to weathered being its up here in michigan. right now I got my headlight ballasts close to the grilles
retrofit projectors in your fogs....or go home
That's what I plan on doing, just trying to think of how I'm going to go about doing it. I'm currently working on headlights atm so it'll have to be after that.
true.....now if only someone would do that.........
I did.
I'll take pics of my ballast location if I think about it, six total.
i mounted my ballasts to the plastic piece that runs under neath for now, they work we shall see when the snow really flys but I doubt it will get that deep when I drive
you wont have any problems with it there, but check your wiring after winter. Michigan winters destroy the wiring to hids. I always suggest to people to replace the wiring after each winter.
