I'm going to be joining the local VFD (in KY) once I get done with my house arrest ordeals (long story). I've decided that I'm going to order a Whelen siren and STL switch box (or make my own), but the only problem is figuring out where to mount them. I don't have access to my car because it is too far from my ankle monitor to get to, so I can't take a good look and figure out. The siren I'm planning to get is a Whelen 295SLSA1 siren, which I was thinking about mounting under the cigarette tray in the center of the dash. It measures 6" W x 2.5" H x 6.875" D, but I can't get to my car to find out if it would fit. Has anyone else been in any sort of FD with a GP and able to tell me what the best places would be? I had a CB radio mounted on the passenger's side on the glove box door, but it's hard to reach that from the driver's side seat. Thanks

i was thinking of getting a PA system.
i thought behind the front fascia for the speaker/siren would be a good spot.
as for the red and blue lights, behind the grills would be cool
    '00 GT- nothing special
My only advice: Don't take my advice

Just get a CB radio, a 1/8" plug, and a speaker from RS. That's where I'm putting mine. As for lights, two STL Slim-2 or Dual Pro's in the front visor, an STL LED Directional bar in the rear dash, and a set of Slim Grille's mounted next to it, with some hideaway strobes and LED lights. Lol

Don't expect anything amazing, lol. I'm going to be getting a Whelen WS295HFS1 siren, mounted under the stereo & A/C on the pullout cigarette lighter thing (hard to explain lol). The light switch will probably go in the middle console, and it will probably have more than just fire lighting switches (planning on adding interior lighting, wig-wag to the fog lights etc.)

I know. Lol. Still, won't be that impressive. Haha.

I'm bidding on a Whelen WS295HFS1 right now, getting a STL Slim-4, Slim Grille, & LED Directional Bar, and eventually LED/strobe hide away kits.

@SaW1833, I was thinking of that, but money's not a real big commodity. Maybe a K&N intake and if I can find a PCM or performance chip would be nice, but I think it's running alright for now. It can keep up with the fire trucks right now so that's always good lol.

@MrClean, I'm thinking something like that, only in the center console. Plans changed, the guy took the 295 off, so I'm looking at an Epsilon, but I'm thinking about putting it in the center console, running the wires up the middle console, & running them from there. Also thinking about building a switch box or just buying a cheap one from STL. Also asking them about an LED directional bar in all-red as a custom option. If not, regular LED bar with Slim Grilles mounted on sides and a Slim-4 in the center front, with wigwag on the lights & either strobes or LED's. Still deciding. Lol

Don't expect it too soon lol, it will be at least a month, as I can't really get to my car until I'm off house arrest.

I've decided a Slim-4 in my front window behind the rear view mirror, with a set of Slim Grille's in yellow for escort, an LED directional bar in either R-YYYYYY-R or all-red, some strobes in the headlights and tail lights, and a wig wag in the fog lights.

Yeah. Everyone thinks the school overreacted. I understand the cause for concern, but 5 days in juvenile hall and 6 weeks of house arrest? Just a little bit insane if you ask me...Oh well, I get to graduate in December now. Lol.

I got to drive it a bit today, so I've kinda worked out what I'm going to do. Light wise, 3 STL Slim-2's or Dual Pro's, one in front behind the rear view mirror, and two in the rear windshield, and possibly an LED bar. Whelen Epsilon siren (debating on the base unit and a separate switch controller or the EPSL2S4 with 4 switches for light control. I think I'll just go with the EPSL1 and an STL Hex controller (One switch for the LED's, one for my interior lighting, and the rest for lighting as it comes along.)

I'm also planning on rebuilding my sub box to the left side of my trunk, so I can fit a tank and compressor for a train horn on my car (somewhere, lol). That'll be much later on though.

That makes the price worth it

Not only that, I want to find a way to modify the Whelen wig wags to do a solid alternating flashers for my fog lights like a train, just for fun. ^_^

id want a different button for a train horn, 200db (or whatever they usually are) is sometimes too much for your horn
