I really want to tint my taillights, I have found plenty of threads on it. However, I did my stockers and they didnt turn out so well. They looked ok but had no shine. I am afraid of messing up my new ones up, they were expensive. I do think they would look better tinted but I'm nervous about it. Anyone wanna help? LOL MANY peeps on here have been hounding me to do it so I need to before I change my mind again!

to get them to shine you need to sand them with really fine sand paper, then wet sand, then buff them with rubbing compound, then wax them.

    I would think that's a given.

It also helps to not use nightshades, and instead use a mix of black and clear automotive paint, with an actual spray gun, then clear over that.

Give it nice thick, even coats of clear. Always perpendicular to the surface of the tail light. Mine came out glossy smooth with no sanding afterward, except on the edges where i didnt go perpendicular all the way and didnt get as thick of a coat.

Believe it or not, we're blessed on this forum to know to use clearcoat. Many people do not seem to know that clearing tinted tails IS A GOOD THING, and therefore will have NEVER thought of it.

Yeah I was just going to say... um... to even TRY and spray it perpendicularly would be hard... but to do it evenly?

Depends on the cop.. I drove in front of a cop for a straight mile and he didn't pull me over.. Got pulled over once at night randomly and he didn't even say anything about them. Maybe I'm just lucky.

No. If i tried to spray clear coat parallel to the tail light, i wouldnt get any on it

Edit for clarity: The stream of paint must be perpendicular to the tail light. the motion that you move the can is parallel to it.

he is right parallel is like an equals sign IE = perpendicular is a +. = paint misses + OMG the paint hit it
