I've noticed driving on the freeways that my hood has been bouncing up and down. Almost like the hood isn't closed all the way.

I checked it today and saw this...

The actual metal latch is busted. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? I'm worried that it'll snap going down the highway and I'll be totally F-ed.

Think that could be welded back together? Looks like to replace it the hood has to be seperated, have a new one riveted in, then have the fiberglass rebonded back together. Probably be cheaper to buy a new hood.

    What do you guys think?

    Have it welded ASAP.

it may soon fail on the other side with the stress of the wind going under the hood, it would then fly up and smash into the windshield blinding up and putting you in danger.

In the meantime get a stock hood on that car and put the GTX hood on the side.. no need to risk it! Take your time to get the GTX hood and then swap back. Better to be safe then sorry!

I think he's implying that it's unlikely that there are going to be too many GTX hoods in the junk yard that haven't been yanked already.
