I have my first detailing kit on the way, but have a question. When it says not to get it (product or buffer) on trim, rubber plastics etc, this doesn't include painted body trim, nose clip, rear bumper etc, does it?

All of these detailing porducts and proper use can be confusing. I do know about autopia.org meguiarsonline.com autogeek.net. Still can be overwhelming.

you can get it on the plastic trim that is painted and cleared, but nothing that isn't. Like the black cowl and window trim for example.

Thanks, thats what I thought would be the case, but figured it was best to ask first. My orbital polisher came in yesterday so I have a big learing curve going from washing with a shop towel to attempting to do it right.

Hey I am glad I can give you some help/advice in return for a change. You are always helping me.
Yeah its ok to use it on our painted bumpers. BUT Watch the back window trim, that melts/burns fast. Avoid touching it! I learned that he hard way LOL. Also watch you dont hit the tailight lenses, they burn fast. Easy to hit accidently.
I took baby steps, afte my 4th time I was pretty brave and made huge leaps with the results. Takes practice to get the right speed, pressure and movement. best advice I can give is when in doubt error on the cautious side. Take your time and dont rush it. I also use the 3m blue tape to keep residue from getting into moulding cracks and it helps from those OOPS and burning the trim.
You tube has a great 4 part video series by Meguires that is extremely informative. I'll see if I can find the link real quick. I wish I found it before I went to town on my car LOL. He gives some great tips to make life easier.
A rotary buffer in the right hands is an amazing tool. I went from thinking I had to get my car repainted or wet sanded to winning trophies. I recovered my paint and have been thrilled about it. Best money spent on the car.
