can happen anywhere (I have gotten tint tickets and tinted tails are illegal everywhere) sounds like the cops are being picky around you, usually they don't stop you for either unless you do something stupid (tails maybe if they can't see them clearly)
I have out of state plates (perks of the military I guess) so the locals don't bother with me since my car doesn't fall under their tint laws.
call your local Highway Patrol and ask what the visability limits are on tail lights. Got pulled over about 3 months ago and he said mine were border line. He showed me the state law book that has the guidelines for them and i think it was something like 1000ft. without brake and it lowers to 500 feet with the brake pressed. Checked later that week on a road near my house that i knew the length of. Could see them clearly at 1200 ft. without the brake. this guy must have been blind.
Not had a problem, course I have military plates too.
I don't have mine tinted yet so I haven't had any problems but I think cops may use the tinted tails as a reason to pull you over. They need a reason to pull you over and they may say that they did it because they couldn't see you lights but they were actually looking for something else going on in the car(drinking, open container, that stuff)
i got pulled over on my way to work last week.i thought 5% in the back and 35% in front was okay .he said there shouldn't be any tint in the front and light tint in the back.he let it slide but still ticketed me for the blown headlight which is why he stopped me.but i know one thing....they aint comin off!
Our law here is 35% on cars. No windshield allowed. I'm a cop and I wouldn't pull a car over just for windows. And even if I pull a car over that has illegal tint I usually don't say anything. It depends on the situation in my point of view. I would roll which ever side the officer is comming up to all the way down (front + back) and keep hands on the wheel. This goes a long way in my book. But there is always the "by the books" jerks that no matter what you do will get you every time. But for the most part it's just all in how the driver presents the situation. As for taillights, put some L.E.D. bulbs in and call it a day.
The window tint law here for cars is 35% in the front windows and 20% in the rear windows. I have 20% all around.
I've gotten pulled over twice for my tint (5% all around), first time I knew the cop so I got let off. Second time was this past week and he BSed me about giving me a tinted window ticket, tinted license plate, and he asked if my LED tails were tinted or stock because he wanted to ticket me on those lmao.
no problems at all. been pulled over twice, but all they gave me was a warning.
i wont take it off or do anything unless they give me a fix it ticket. just a fine? ill pay it.
I had tha tails on my stratus tinted dark & never got popped for it...was pulled over for other things..lol . But they never said anything about tha tails or 20% tint on tha windows which is illegal in Memphis..tha limit is 35%.
Pulled over for window tint and I even VHT'd my license plate cover LOL I never got pulled over for it but the woman took the car one day to get lunch and got stopped 2 blocks away for it LOL Never had anyone say anything about the taillights though....and I got a dark blue car too...
havent been stopped for any of my tint and havent been bothered about it being pulled over for other things. I've even got my headlights and fog lights tinted on top of the windows and tails.
But being stopped for no front license plate is a different story.
i think its dumb... are cars all came with a front headlight cover so i feel it should be optional =[ lol
