    I hate my mom

I give her my damn car for 15 mins... and this is how she brings it back. She claims she didn't see the hitch on a truck and that's what apparently caused this mess.

This is just the worse part, there are more scuff marks near the license plate.

What should I do here? I have never attempted to fix ANY body part.

I just phoned a place and a new bumper which I will have to paint myself is estimated at $162 CAD so i'm not gonna do that.

I'm thinking about attempting to fix it, but I'm not quite sure of the steps to use... Since the bumper is fibreglass.. can you sand it?

Can you do the ol' sand, prime and paint?

I'm a complete newbie here guys, i want to learn about this stuff but I've actually never attempted it. This is a fibreglass bumper so I dont know how to fix it.

    Help please!!

Fiberglass will be your best friend take your time and refill with fiberglass and make sure everything is level before painting.

Is Bondo a good product to use?

I have a few friends recommending it but I've never used it before.

Does anyone have a good guide to doing so?

I'm confident enough that I will be able to repair the hole and scuff marks in my bumper, its just the painting which I am afraid of, I dont want to do a horrible paint job and make the car look even worse if you know what I mean.

honestly, i would NOT use bondo on the front bumper. ive been doing some bondo work on metal, but not plastic, i dont think it would turn out to well. if you do as ibwrong told you ( fiberglas) i think you be in good shape. and if you get the same color as your bumper paint you will be alright

get a fiberglass resin kit(comes with the cloth, resin, hardener etc) and you'll be able to repair it. Just take your time. If there are more scuff marks that aren't too deep you can usually use plastic polish and buff them out.

hold the phone here people. one thing, bondo makes a fiberglass repair kit with the hardener in it. i sell it at advance, its like 20 or 30 bucks for a quart or so. maybe more. then u need a fiberglass mesh too (also at advance auto) just do a little reading online on how to do it. or ask the ppl at advance, they can help u. and paint wise, if using a rattle can, use duplicolor. or go to a paint place and have them match your color and put it in a can. then its just usin your new found knowledge to fix the part
ps, anything thats made by 3m is a good product. and bondo is really good too. just take your time, and do it right the first time.

Do some research into this first. Bumper skins are supposed to be flexible.
There may be a repair kit specifically for it. May be pricey because of the plasticizers used in the filler and paint. You will never be able to blend it perfectly but you can get close.
OEM bumpers are good but expensive. After market bumpers will shatter like glass and will not always fit right. They have to make them cheap somehow.

Yes you can sand primer and paint the front bumper. You must first repair the tear. You can use a heat gun and heat it up and smear it back together. But bondo can be used but it is not waterproof. So it must be sealed with fiberglass and finished with bondo and finishing putty, primer and paint.

sir, bondo is just fine as long as he paints over it. it is perfectly waterproof when it has primer and paint on it. so he wont need to seal it. just fix it, and prime n paint. bondos fiberglass will work just fine for fixing it.
