Thread: Honeycomb grilles for lower fascia

I was just getting on here to say I found a local shop that was going to punch out the pattern for me, but now that I see this, I'll get on it.

Must be a newer dodge. The pattern on the '01 era is too large of an opening.

I also seen the Dodge grills and thought it came pretty close, all the mesh I've seen don't do a thing for me except for maybe modder's mesh that is hexagon shaped but very small. Didn't know there was a difference between the Dodge grills, may start looking again.

I asked how he attached them -- hopefully he'll comment back for us.

Can anyone get a measurement on the hole opening across the flats on the hexagon shape in a newer ('03+) dodge grille? I just measured an '01 and it is just under 3/4". The openings on our stock nose grilles are 1/2".

Does it need to be perfect? If it's that big of a concern, do the lower piece, and then use some more to replace the stock grills too.

I talked to a guy yesterday, IIRC we want the pre 97 grill, the honeycombs are smaller in those grills compared to the 97 on ups...

Problem is (IMO), with the larger openings on the bottom you can probably get away with the larger diameter openings, on the upper grills, may look totally out of place being they are alot smaller.

I wanna try this now.. looks sweet. You could alway cut some of the top of the grille so it sits farther forward and actually pops out of the lower fascia.

It's not so much, for me, the opening sizes matching perfectly. The ones in my hood are smaller, yet. For me, it's the size of stone or road debris that can pass through the larger opening. The smaller the hole, the smaller the stone that can pelt my condensor.

I might end up buying a 96 grille (at least stated as such on evilbay) and give this a try.

Yeah, I think I might do the same thing. As close as it is, it will probably work just fine for my needs and I think one grille would do two GP cars, by the looks of it.

I like what newarkk is saying, too. What could be used for a "border" around the outer perimeter to make it look finished?

Any idea on what the material is on the grilles? I have an uncle that may be able to do a "plastic" type of weld of material to the outside of the parent material.

Anyone do this yet since we've started gabbing about it? I found some edge trim in McMaster Carr that would probably work well to create a finished edge. It's kind of pricey, but we'd only do it one time.
