We've had the '01 for about a month and a half, and I've been piddling around with it between other cars...Here are a few of the car as we picked it up, and a few more as it stands for now.

After a little paint love, wheels, tires, exhaust, blah blah...

Glad to assist. They have several different Corsa Clones listed, and be forewarned, the 4" tips they sell for Trans Ams and Camaros WILL NOT FIT in the GP rear valence. The ones on the wife's GTP are the 3" tips.

It was a bit neglected to be a 70K mile one owner car.
I painted the front and rear bumper covers, the rest of the car I colorsanded and buffed- I use 3M compounds, Meguiars glazes, and Menzerna, Klasse and Zaino topcoats.

Here are a few of aforementioned piddling...

And one of my buddies just thought this was funny as hell.

sheesh man, thats awsome. that engine was nasty! you sure did turn that around...

what is colorsanding exactly? and would you mind telling me what the polish/wax process was that you used. I am big into detailing myself and just like to learn new stuff. I used Meguiars and Pinnacle glazes myself along with their waxes. I havent tried the Menzerna stuff, heard good things about it, also havent tried Zaino (too expensive and time consuming for me).

Also, what was the white stuff you had on the trunk when you were taking off the brown crusty residue? and how did you make that look so good?

Oh, and I am glad i'm not the only person who probably looked like an idiot crawling into the back of my trunk and disappearing for 5 minutes

Hahaha, nope, there are more of us idiots than you may realize.
As for colorsanding, it's a process learned rather than taught... If you're going to attempt it, I'd recommend a spare hood or body panel from a beater to cut your teeth. Basically, it involves wet-sanding the paint in order to level the surface- Removing orange peel, contaminents, etc. I usually start with 1200 grit paper on factory finishes, and depending on the refinish job I go as low as 1000. You then gradually come back with a finer grade, 1500, and onto 2000 paper, and bring the surface back with a high speed polisher and compounds, glazes, etc. It's tedious, and if you're not careful you can ruin paint in a hurry. I'll scour around for a write-up (because I'm lazy and type for crap) and link it for you.

Here are a couple of my old Z/28 during colorsanding after I painted a few panels on it.

And a few during, and after buffing.

As far as the Zaino, it's actually one of the more user friendly and cost effective "Premium" finishes. There are more optically perfect products out there, but for most events you may enter, the judges can't differentiate it from the hardcore stuff costing over $100 for 4 ounces. Hell, I use it on my damn truck, and it's worth the small price premium over a premium Carnuba or poly glaze all day long. Not to mention, the Z actually has a sunscreen, and in Florida, I do care.
The whit shiz on the trunklid was just foaming cleaner to remove the layer of sod growing under the spoiler.

how would you fix a severely chipped up bumper and hood ? I bought my gtp with intentions of just slapping a new bumper on and having the hood fixxed but now im thinking it can be a diy project

What kind of paint did you use on the front bumper? It looks like it was done in your garage...

I need to re-paint my front bumper soon... did you wetsand/buff the front bumper as well, or do you treat it differently since it was a re-paint?

    Oh, and that looks Amazing!!!!

I'm also moving to your neck of the woods in June... well, Fort Rucker, AL isn't exactly close, but I'm told I'll be spending time in Panama City at the "Redneck Riviera"

    THANKS!

Very true! you get what you pay for in buffing pads. And the cleaner you keep them the better.
