My car really needs a paint job! I have done all I can to make it look good. BUT whoever owned it before me didnt keep it up. Where could I get it done that wont cost me an arm and leg? I live in Belleville, MI.

Well right under my gas tank the paint is literally bubbling! dont see how I can fix just that spot. Plus the hood is all scratched up.

Well it's probably bubbling because u have rust forming underneath the paint...in which case u will need some body work. But if just that spot and your hood are the bad portions you can just have those painted...a good body shop should b able to color match those well so that it is hardly noticeable and it will b cheaper than a whole new paint job. However a whole new paint job would look better obviously if u have the cash. I suppose if u don't care that much u could always get like maaco paint job for 500 bucks but those r cheap for a reason

paint bubbling under gas tanks is common. to prevent this in the future, by all costs don't let gas spill anywhere. at all.

Try and find a nearby tech school and check their rates. Full paint job on my dad's monte carlo would cost me 200 for the paint alone just to give a rough idea

My car needs both bumpers painted, hood painted, and LOTS of touch up. THEN it needs to be color sanded. So don't get too worked up about it, there are others of us worse off.

My whole front bumper cover is nothing but deep wide scratches. Oh and under the driver side headlamp is a big chunk of missing paint.

bubling means theres rust under there... have fun in your soon to be rust bucket.

as we said, total it and take it back and part it out.

my beast is great now that ive started the sanding etc.. however i did notice a few new dings in my bumper tonight from recent highway driving, (thankfully its all still primer only and easily fixed) also found a new dent i will fix next week before base/clear.

i HIGHLY recommend fixing ANY paint bubbles ASAP as its a sign of something bigger lurking underneath that if left untreated gives you more work/cost compared to fixing it now

I am going to look into getting the part that's bubbling fixed for now I guess. Don't want it to turn into something major when its minor at the moment.

At least your car is all one colour. I just installed a used silver hood and trunk lid. (My car is black).
If you do all the prep work yourself, you can get a good deal on a decent paint job. Most of the cost is prep.

scratches and knicks on the front bumper are inevitable, depending on where you live. i dont let mine bother me, theyre only battle wounds. and a front bumper isnt too costly to repaint.

but the bubbling..id get it fixed if you can. scratches jus buff the living hell out of them.

Maybe you can just paint the roof silver to match. xP

this. i had a hood and front bumper painted at a tech school. the guys in class were 'learning' how to paint, but the professors watch over them like a hawk. you still get a good quality paint job for VERY cheap compared to a body shop. i would venture to guess i got it cheaper than a maaco job.

the tech school idea sounds like a good plan i had never thought of that before...lucky for me my paints is pretty much flawless other than a few dings and chips here and there just from being on the road for 12 years.
