Got a new mod done today. Had this done professionally at a body shop that I do a lot of work at. This is automotive clear coat with just the right amount of automotive gloss black mixed into it. Lenses were then wet sanded, sprayed and then baked in the paint booth. I had been looking around here for someone that knew how to do it correctly for a long time (pretty much since I had seen Gib's on his GTO). You gotta know the correct ratio to mix the clear and black before you just go off spraying lights. I was at this particular body shop yesterday and saw a tinted set on one of the guy that works theres 350Z. When I asked who did it, he told me the painter there knew how to do it. I've known the painter there for several years, just never thought to ask him. After a short conversation with the painter, he told me to bring them in. I dropped them off at 8 this morning and picked them up at Noon! Then had to wait all day to get home and put them on. They look great and as far as I can tell they are flawless, smooth and shiny as glass. Nice thing is, I can wax and detail them just like the rest of the paint and they will stay shiny.

    Before...

    During...

    After...

They look jet black, but with the right ratio mix, the lights shine right through with no problems.

    Park light

    Brake light

    Reverse light

Oh yeah, and one more thing. My driver's side tail had two pretty decent size bubbles at the top edge. There is not even a trace of where they used to be. You can't see them at all. I'm VERY happy.

You should have removed the lettering on the tails!

    Than it will look complete!!!

There is a place you can send them to, and the guy does headlights, taillights, corner lenses, you name it. He will tint them, or even color match them to your vehicle. Ive dealt with him a few years ago and they have great customer service, well they did back then at least.

I'd be showing them off too, those look great dude!

Never thought that the part numbers, and letters would still be on them after they were sanded, that makes for an even better smoother finish. Plus, when you polish your car, and lights, you don't have to worry about having to get the polishing compound out of the letters.

But the price was right on them, so regardless, worth every penny! Shannon getting jealous yet of all your doing to his old car?

Agree....If I was to do them I'd sand the numbers down to nothing!!! JMO

I like the letters and stuff still being on there. Keeps them from looking too much like covers IMO. And if I ever get questioned by the law, they're still there. LOL. Not that it will matter I'm sure.

I left my reflectors unpainted but after looking at the first picture you were better off tinting them.

Also left them a little lighter on the tint so the cops in my area wouldn't hassle me.
debadged, clear corners, 20% tint, tinted tails, vibrant performance tips, red painted calipers, Fig. grills, autometer guages, PFYC 3 pod A pillar, SLP CAI, 2.5" DP, SD Hood, SD front air damn, Gen I spoiler, 17X8 Borbet Type M rims, engine upgrades soon!

Well, I'm almost embarrassed to say, but it didn't cost me anything. I've known the guy a long time, just didn't know he did this sort of thing. I've done some glass work on some of his cars in my own time out at his house before, so I guess we are even.
