Power washing the engine bay soon. Do I need to cover anything up like the alternator? And what do I do about the PCM? Is it water-resistant or should I cover it up somehow? Any tips would be good. Also my blower is either painted or powercoated black, would degreaser take it off? If it will I'll just avoid spraying that area.

If the blower is powdercoated it will be fine degreaser messes with some paint types so id do a test spot maybe

if your power washing be careful with how much pressure and how fine the stream is....people have power washed gaskets away....

PCM is sealed. What will happen if the battery gets water on it? I have pressure washed my engine a trillion times and have never covered anything. Start it up after and its dry in 2 mins. Tinfoil lol

At work before we list a car for sale we spray f***in acid on the entire engine, power wash the whole thing at full power, and start the car a minute later with zero troublebut I figured I'd take a little more precaution on mine. I think I'll cover the PCM even if it is sealed and probably the alternator too, and just stick with a light degreaser. Never had any problems with water getting on a battery before so I think that should be ok.

Oh ok. I see where you're going with this! The high pressure will blow the top off the battery and battery acid will fly everywhere! BUT, we will cover the battery with tin foil and all will be good? Good thing you pay someone to do all the work on your car!

Ive pressure washed my engine in all my cars alot both at the car wash and with my electric pressure washer never had an issue
Only time i had an issue was years ago on my taurus the cap and wires got wet and had to dry before it would run
At school in one of our basic classes they said to keep the engine running while we washed it Ith an open cone set up that probably wouldnt be good lol then again it might just steam clean carbon interally

Lol yeah I'm not gonna power wash the open cone I'm gonna do it while the FWI is still on, let everything dry, then swap it out.
