I don't know the technical name for it but I'd suppose its part of shaving the doors. Has anyone ever removed the plastic bump strips in the center of the doors of the 97-03 gp? I've always wondered what it would look like if I took them off, but I know if I don't like it...they're not goin back on haha.

its got holes underneath it that you need to weld shut, sand down, and then repaint your car. have fun with that.

Shaving them off makes the car look awesome but it is a ton of work. It just isnt something you can pop off and call it good.

unless your up for a repaint and have some good body experience, I'd pass...Nothing is less fun then filling tiny holes on large flat panels, and making it look great. And dark paint shows everything so it has to be flawless....

I'd like to think black would be the easiest to work with considering you could probably pull it off without a full repaint. And your car is black right?
Black is black, sure it won't be perfect, but the average eye won't notice a thing. So I'd like to think you could get by with just repainting the doors.

definetly not, black is not black. Black is the HARDEST color to match, to blend, to do any body work under. Without a doubt nothing is worse. You have to know your **** to buff black and make it look right. White is white, white is easy and hides all. If you would do a body line down paint job your car would look like crap. In perfect conditions a black paint job (without a wet sand and buff every 2 years) looks like crap to a body man in 3-4 years

Exactly. Black shows every little imperfection in the paint and body. Lighter colors are much easier to hid stuff like that. To get rid of the ding guards you need some pretty good body experience.

black is pretty hard to match. if my paint decides to fall off, ill definitely have this done lol. meanwhile shes still lookin sexy

I have to disagree, in my experience black is the easiest color to spray, match or blend. Ever try to blend or match GM's 3 stage diamond white?
But I do agree that black is a magnifier and will make the smallest wave or dent look like crap. But thats why bodywork is 90% of a paint job.

never blended diamond white but i know what your talking about. Basically shooting any heavy metallic or pearl and making it blend. I was more referring to basic shades as 11 year old paint in any color sucks, but black is the worst imo to blend on old paint.

yeah, i agree with that. Red is a SOB too.
btw, my side molding is gone. I say its a good mod if youre going to do a full custom repaint.

I hear that and black are the two worst colours for fading.
