I really have not posted any pics of my car so I cleaned it up a little after installing all the painted and polished goodies I did this winter. Thanks reflective concepts fo the valve cover overlays. Its a 2003 Jeff Gordon edition monte carlo ss. So hows it look?

You know, as much as I REALLY REALLY love Pontiac, the Monte Carlo has grown on me, I dont know what exactly it is about the body style but it just looks good. And I dont say that about a lot of non-Pontiac cars.

Very nice ride. I am extremely interested in how you painted such things like your alternator.

DUDE! I just looked at your pictures again and noticed you have a coolant catch can. You MUST tell me how you did that. Mounted it, plumbed it and all that. I have wanted to ditch that friggin UGLY overflow bottle FOREVER and have thought about doing that but was not sure how to go about doing it. Please take more detailed pics if you can and post them or email me. syntheticshield AT cableone DOT net

I agree, the monte looks nice. One of the chevy cars I'd consider. The newer styles are nice. Especially the Gordon or Stewart editions. Looks sharp!!

Whoa, I thought people knew about the billet coolant overflow tanks. I will get some more pics tomorrow, but as far as the plumbing I just used a stainless braided dishwasher water line and hacked off the fittings on the end and used small band clamps. I will get pics of the mounting it was very easy.
The tank I used is one of the few with a cap to fill it, and it also has a drain plug on the bottom which can be removed if you needed two lines running to it. Heres a link for the one I used eBay Motors: OBX Universal Coolant Catch Tank Reservoir Can JDM (item 350030512778 end time Mar-04-08 17:54:59 PST)
Its non presurized like the factory bottle, it has a small vent hole in the top of the cap.
As far as the paint I used duplicolor metal cast paint with the primer made for it ( available at autozone) and when I painted it I stuffed cottonballs in the vents to prevent paint from going inside the alt. After it was painted I removed the cottonballs and hand painted the inside of the vents with duplicolor caliper paint in the small can since I had it laying around from when we did the brakes on my buddies charger.

Not really, other than the space savings.

if you guys going to mount the can in the same spot like his you might have little problem with the hose rubbing on the pulley belt. his is not supercharged like most of us. as you can see he used zip tie to keep the hose from rubbing on the alternator belt.

Yeah, I had noticed that when I was considering mine, but I would just buy a long enough hose to route it safely away from that area.

my bottle is already close the the belt so I have rerouted the hose (as the one on the car when I got it had a nice hole in it)

Heres some better pics of the coolant bottle. The line can be bought at any hardware store, its a dishwasher water line, they come in 36, 42, and 72 inches long. I used a grinder to hack off the fittings on the end, then you just work it over the fitting on the radiator and catch can. use a hose clamp on each side and your done. I had those little covers on the ends from when I got one of those braided hose cover kits so I stuck them on. To mount it I used a couple short sheet metal screws on the bracket that it came with. I had to slightly bend the bracket to the angle of the back wall. I also put a small piece of self stick foam pad I had laying around just incase it tryed to wobble, but it was pretty sturdy. I also took a pic of the vent hole in the top. Any other questions on it feel free to ask.
