Thread: Fixing a deep scratch/chip

Not a simple as a scratch, more of gouge in the paint on the side of my car. It was there when I bought it, so I can't get pissed at an unknown person dinging the car. I've touched up hundreds of scratches and rock chips. It's not that hard if you are comfortable with wet sanding and have a steady hand and some patience. Larger scratches are pretty tough to completely get rid of but I figure some matching paint looks better than bare metal.

Im gonna vote NO to the touch up paint. For some reason, I can spot it a mile away. Then, I cant stop looking at it. I learned on TV the other day thats why the old time hot rodders started doing pin stripes. To hide chips. Although, in that spot, that would be one funky stripe
