This may sound like a very strange question.
It's not really a high tech question but is more of an annoyance.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to block or modify the vent holes in the sunroof visor?
    I'm talking about these:

The problem is, it's sunny here in S Texas in the summer and those holes seem to let the sun shine right into my eyes from above. Very distracting and annoying.

    Looking for ideas...

I had hoped to make my first real post on this forum about something really important but I guess not...there it is...my first post...a question about my sunroof.

could remove the visor assembly and cover em from behind , keeps it clean but effective. Dont ask me how to do it im sure someone will mention it, i just dont know how myself lol. but its what I would do.

This is a good idea but also to add to it would be to get some pieces of plexi glass or something similar and tint it 15% or w.e you want and put it on the back of them.

From what i've been told, don't even think about tinting your sun roof, especially in texas. I live in florida so similar weather. I got Llumar and the guy said he won't even tint sunroofs cause of the problem of increased heat stress on the glass can actually cause it to shatter. I've thought about doing something to my vents as well. I think the plexi glass idea sounds good, I may try to find some dark grey/black plexi glass and see how that works.

sun roof is perpendicular to sun, gets hotter than the windows that are angled, believe me, i highly doubt 3-4 tinting places would tell me not to tint my sunroof. That would be like someone saying, no don't buy stuff from me.

on this (almost) same subject...anyone ever have that visor stick open? Mine WILL not budge and i've tried everything but the BFE! And i'm about ready to. I really would rather not have to drop the damn headliner to get my sunroof visor to slide!

I bet if you put some dark fiberglass screen in there, it would probably cut down the light quite a bit but also let the air pass through as they were designed to?

So my brother recently bought a 2003 Chevy Impala that has the same design sunroof vents. He came up with a pretty brilliant idea so far, we have yet to test it out yet though.

Vinyl print. The kind some trucks get for the rear window that allows for pictures and such to be printed on the outside of the vinyl but as far as the driver sees there is a basic sort of tinting effect as seen from the inside of the vehicle.

I'm going to see if I should do a 6'' wide strip or just put the stuff on most of the interior of my sunroof. I've still got to see what the effect of the Florida Sun on this stuff may be. That's why I'm thinking more about a 6'' strip instead of putting it on the entire sunroof, better transmission of heat with a smaller strip while still blocking most of the light.

My brother is thinking about doing an entire white panel of the vinyl stuff on the outside of his Impala since he has a White Impala. Since it would be white he wouldn't have to worry about the heat problem quite as much. He figures it would cut on the amount of light getting inside the car, as well as blend in the sunroof to the white car, since right now the sunroof stands out alot. Either way I'll try to get some pictures of it.

With the link I posted, the 4th image of the American Flag on the Rear Window of the truck, that is the sort of material I'm talking about. You guys can probably search more online for the material, I just wanted to get the point across.

American Truck Accessories available only at Stylin' Trucks, hood guards, window visors, door handle covers, window graphics, stainless grills

So I ended up using the strip that the vinyl print shop gave him. I cut it down to 5.3cm wide by about 35cm long. There are two strips of it, as you can see by the overlap I made in the center. It is white facing towards the inside, and black on the outside. Doesn't block all the light, but it certainly blocks a fair amount while blending in well from the interior & exterior. Doesn't stand out from the outside, you would have to look at it.
