That is some exciting news!
these really look nice and i just got euro clear corners too...lol i might have to replace those for these...haha
Just a couple updates for everyone here (John can correct me if I'm wrong on anything):
Andy's Auto Sport finally updated their pricing to what is believed to be their "real" pricing when their "backorder" is done. The listed price on AAS is currently $399 + shipping. If you ordered, get a refund as the group buy will be cheaper (supposed to be in the $300-350 range shipped) and more reliable. Not to mention AAS will be waiting awhile. Which brings me to next update...
I wouldn't freak out too bad if you are one of the interested members as fairly sure most people interested right away will get a set. No numbers have been released as to production numbers for black/chrome. Again this group buy will be open to the GP community as a whole. No forum gets them over another.Quote:
Update 3/10/08
I have some disturbing news.. Originally my bosses told me that 600 units were
coming on the 19th, however today I checked on the purchase order and it seems
that only 100 units are scheduled to arrive on the 19th.. Apparently the other 500
units are actually scheduled to arrive periodically after the 19th, at what time intervals
i have no clue..
Just thought I'd inform you guys on the news. As for my "express shipping set," still
no word.. boss supposedly is gonna call and complain today as we've received only
more sample lights for other applications in our express deliveries as of late..
don't worry tho.. i mean, if u're not on the first 100 when they drop,
another 100-200 units should arrive within a month i believe... hopefully..

If possible they will test the HIDs in them, but I would not hold them to this as I don't believe the test car (Chromius) is equipped with HIDs and they would have to modify a set to work. From a post I read, the focal length is believed to be the same though.
As always most questions can be answered here:
Projectors FAQ
will u marry me?
Um...No. Well, will it get me projectors quicker?:th_loveit:
Errr, I mean no!!:th_biggrin2:
No problem. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Communication is key and alot of vendors/sellers don't do that.
Hey guys i think im going to cancel my order for the lights with the incredible retarts at AAS. this is the 5th time they've told me a different shipping date. They were suppose to be shipped out today, but now they wont be until friday, supposedly. So if anyone can give me the information on how to possibly go about joining in on the group buy with everyone else here that would be great. John, It seems like your the man to get the info from, so if you could shoot me some info when you get the chance id appreciate it. Thanks
Main reason I'm looking at getting these headlights is for better visibility, (then looks), but mainly to solve my night driving problems, so with that said do you think i should first try the spyder headlights or this HID kit (HIDWORLD.COM - Your Source Of HID Xenon Lighting System. - 6000K 55W Bi-Xenon HID Kit 6000K 55W Bi-Xenon HID Kit)
GOINDEF,
Yes, I would seriously consider cancelling your order with AAS. Also would help you to read both threads on the projectors and the FAQ that is linked in my last post above.
To summarize, the projectors won't even be in the country until March 19th at the earliest at which time John @ Spyderauto has exclusivity of the first batch which as said before is supposed to be around 100 now. More runs will follow in the coming months. AAS has also finally adjusted their pricing to $399 + shipping which appears to be closer to reality. AAS could possibly not have any for months and will cost you $100ish more than the group buy.
Also, as stated before it takes nothing to "get" in on the group buy. It is Internet-wide to all GP forums.
As far as visibilty, there have been no pics of output yet. Many plan on using HIDs with these. Regardless I believe they will be better than our horrible stock housings. HIDs in stock housings are good, but scatter the light badly. Hopefully since the focal length appears to be the same HIDs will be great in the projectors. This of course voids the warranty though and the housing must be mildly modified.
The above posts and FAQ should answer any questions you have. Hope this helps.
kool thanks alot man, but as for the questoin i had about which would be better for my night driving issues, do you think i should go with the HID kit first and then try the projector headlights. I found a bixenon kit from ebay that one of the other members were raving about and said that they were great.
Ok guys I canceled my order with AAS, and i think im going to get a bixenon HID kit from the ebay store that Scooooobydooooo was talking about in this thread, (http://www.grandprixforums.net/f11/b...rice-2316.html)
Although HID's have much better and brighter lighting output, the stock capsules will still cause the light to be more scattered, and the projectors will be more focused on a certain area. I would say go with the projectors, and if that isn't bright enough, order the HID's and then do a little bit of dremeling and stick em in there.
we should put this in our group buy part of the forums so that everyone that wants a set can put their name down .
Shhh!! Don't mention anymore lists. LOL. John will organize the group buy and make a separate post once the projectors are here and anyone that wants them can follow his instructions at that time. I'm sure once there is a real group buy it will go in the group buy section by John. We don't need anymore lists until people are ponying up their money for a set.
once they drop, i'll make sure to cover all outlets ;)
Maybe if I post on numerous websites about these, they will get here faster???
Does anybody know how we can pay for them once their in? Do we just give john our credit card number or what?? 2 more days til they're here right? I cant wait to get a black set
Group buy will be set up once they arrive, are inspected, pics, etc. I doubt you'll just be tossing John your cc number, but who knows. I won't throw out my assumptions. Doubt you will have to wait long once they are ready to go for all info to drop. Last I heard Spyder Auto was still working out vendor details on CGP.
As for the first shipment there are supposed to be 60 black sets and 50 chrome sets coming on the 19th.
GOINDEF, did you end up getting your refund back from AAS? Was worried for you on that one.
Yep they refunded it with no questions ask and it was back in my account which now is just trying to wait patiently for the group buy. Seems like they must be good at refunding things cause it went 10X's easier than trying to order and get info from them.
I cant wait for the head lights, I'm hoping the black ones are as sweet as I'm expecting them to be. Sucks that theres only going to be 50 of them, but have most people showed an interest in the chrome ones over the black ones?
any good news ??????????????
Not as of yet. They were set to arrive on the 19th, but are/were held up in customs. I would expect the Internet-wide GP group buy to kick off in the next couple weeks after inspection, inventory, pics, etc.
Thanks Jason.
