No almost all of GM factory hoods were NOT painted...just their way of cutting costs and saving money. They would install that underhood piece and paint AROUND it.Quote:

Anyways, its more to keep the engine noise in the engine bay then to protect the paint but the auto manufacture's will tell you its for sound and heat. just do it in LIGHT coats... if you do heavy coats, the liner just soaks the paint in... do ALOT of LIGHT coats
