I think its safe to say we've all been around long enough to know about the delamination issues with the taillights on the 97-03 Grand Prix's. Our options are to either find another set, tint or switch to one of the Spyder led lights. Stock style lights are getting expensive and finding a set for sale privately is not guaranteed for both availability or condition. Tinting is tricky because you want them to be dark enough to hide the delamination, but light enough for the light to still be visible (and not attract unwanted attention). Then there is the 3 color variations of the Spyder led taillights which are not everyones cup of tea.

I stumbled across another possible alternative, I've been in contact with Brent Franker who specializes in vinyls for the 4th gen F-body cars. Like us, the early 4th gen firebirds have an issue with delamination of the taillights as well. Brent originally made an overlay for the taillight grid design, but later for one of the members at ls1tech made a reverse vinyl. The idea was to use the reverse vinyl to cover over the areas to remain clear and then paint over the rest. See for yourself here, probably alot better than I can explain it HOW TO: Make Your Delaminated Tails Look New Again - LS1TECH - Camaro and Firebird Forum Discussion

My idea was something similar for us guys with the 6th gen Grand Prix's. Brent is wiling to do it, however he doesn't have access to any Grand Prix's of our generation. I just kinda want to gauge out if this is something that would possibly interest the community? If someone in the Tampa Florida area (he's about an hour north of there) is still active and interested in being a gopher my thinking is this could be a good option for those that want to keep the stock look or not have to tint so dark.

I actually had that years ago for a very short time....just couldn't get it to look right. Was kinda tacky looking up close imo. Its made to cover over the lines in the taillight which does what it intended to do, however a reverse vinyl of that is what I'm looking for....to cover over the red parts of the light so that when you paint it and later peal the vinyls off the light shines through. I sent an email to the address listed on that page, but never heard back. I know it was someone back from the clubgp days that owns the company.

Was just an idea I had
