whats the best 9007 bulb without going hid?
|
I just switched to silver star ultra brights from 6000k HID's, Imo they are an f-ing joke for the money you pay, only a little better than stock but not enought to spend $60
If you want a true HID look go with the nokia's. They are a blue buld and look JUST like HID's. Just not as bright.
If you get Nokia's make sure you get extra's they are nice but my headlight and foglight Nokia's blew out in 2 months. Im convinced their isn't a decent 9007 bulb to replace the stock ones with.
Below is a pic with Nokia blue headlight bulb, and Nokia yellow fog light bulbs

So you have had some too? I never owned them but knew a buddy that had them i his jeep. I know his lasted longer than that but not sure how much longer.I can't say.
yeah its too bad because i did like the way they looked.
The blue tinted bulbs may be whiter, but they're not brighter. The blue coating makes them look whiter/bluer by blocking some of the light, which reduces the output.
As far as I know, the Philips Xtreme Power +80 is the best 9007 bulb out there. I have the Philips VisionPlus +50, which are one step below the Xtreme +80. These bulbs achieve higher output and a whiter color through more precise construction and different gas mixtures, not through blue coatings. The VisionPlus +50's are almost as white as Silverstars (it's hard to tell the difference even when viewing the two side-by-side) and are noticeably brighter. I can only assume the Xtremes are even brighter still.
Also, at $39, the Philips Xtremes are cheaper than the $60 SilverStars 99prixgt mentioned above.
the whiter the bulb the more you will see.
Blue bulbs are WORTHLESS. Get yourself some CLEAR GE NightHawks and a relay harness. Can't be beat other than projectors/HIDs.
Silverstars are too expensive and have 1/2 the life of regular bulbs. If you overdrive them with the harness, expect a 3-6 month life...
You can always buy a 9007 relay harness. Check ebay for a 9007 relay harness. Something like this.
Heavy Duty Headlight Wiring Harness with relays increases voltage over stock wir suvlights.com HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESSES & WIRING KITS
hmm i like PIAA bulbs. on my last gtp i go their bulbs in my foglights and they made a huge difference. Im not sure what im gonna do this time. maybe an HID kit or ill buy some PIAA's.
The old 9007 bulb base just acts as a connector to interface with the stock car wiring without damaging the car. It is never a good idea to cut into exterior car wiring.
Basically, the original headlamp wiring drives a control relay, and the control relay switches the battery power to the new lamps.
so whats the point of the junkyard bulb socket? when it comes to this electrical crap i suck. i need more pictures than whats on your website. sorry for being a hassle. or maybe just more detailed instructions that are step by step, almost like spoon feeding a crying baby.
