Ok, I have had TRS HID projectors in my headlights for about 4 years. They have been good except the ballast randomly not firing, but that's another story for another day. One of my headlight assemblies was damaged recently to the point the housing is garbage. Is it possible to remove the projector and use it to build another headlight or do I need to start over? I know I could attempt it, but I am trying to plan ahead and limit downtime. Just wondering if anyone has experience at this or has attempted it. Any advice?

Possible? Yes, practical? No. The projectors that come in those are pretty poor in quality compared to say morimoto retrofits. you'd have to cut the projector out, mark on the new headlight, dremel the back out to fit it, then use jb weld all over, pray you pointed it correctly, hope you can find a shroud to fit, then hope it doesn't leak! Granted, it may not look quite as cool.

Personally, I'm a fan of the retrofits. They're better made projectors, and they're brighter to boot!

Mine are Morimoto. I bought them from TRS. I did the retrofit myself. (I probably wasn't clear on that in the first post) I tried to use plenty of JB weld to hold them in which is why I am concerned about being able to remove them without destroying them.

Haha didn't recognise your abbreviation there! Thought you were referring to the spyder projectors!

But yes, I've done it before no problem. I use a dremel wheel to cut them out and carefully sand them down. I'm not saying it's easy, just possible.

Can be done. The only problem I see is grinding away all the old JB Weld. It just sounds like fun. LOL

I am def not excited about trying this. Time is certainly a concern because I won't have lights and can't drive the car while I am doing this.

Good luck! It's not as bad as you think one you get into it.
