What is the paint code for the gray section of the front bumper?

I can't seem to find out the paint code for the dark gray section of the lower front bumper any where. I am going to remove, sand down and paint my front bumper and I was going to try and keep the gray section. I guess I could paint the whole bumper black but then the rear bumper would kinda be out of place. Thoughts? Or any recommendations on the gray?

You can't see the front and rear bumper at the same time..... thats probably not very helpful huh?

I had an aftermarket rear bumper on my 01 and it didn't have the grey or the lettering it was just solid blue. I never even noticed until I had to replace it and had the one I got from the junkyard side by side with it.

If its anything like the gray parts on 04+ then it isn't painted, its just the color of the extruded plastic.

I know it's painted on 97-03 cars and I have no idea on the paint code. Likely not something you'll be able to find without a body shop helping you out. They paint won't be cheap either.

I'd just find a standard GM gray paint from napa or wherever in the duplicolor and paint it with that.

Most folks would probably go ahead and shoot the whole bumper black then get some good rattle can semi-gloss dark grey metallic trim paint like SEM to do the accent. Spray touch ups later are easy that way. Finding the right code is kinda a dead end by the book and computer but I know I've seen it posted here somewhere. Seriously, most painters would walk out to the car with a correct year chip chart of GM accent colors and pick whichever one looks closest.

Is there anyway to properly sand down that plastic part on an 07 gp? I'm not sure mine has paint or not, it is beat up by the sun, was thinking of sanding and adding a uv resistant clear coat.

Get some Mother's Back to Black and use it. It works wonders.

I was trying to find a pic of my pieces after the BtB but must not have taken any.

If you are talking about the trim, look into solution finish.

you wet sand with 2000-2500 grit paper to scuff the old paint, then use prep spray /wax and de greaser to get it clean.

mask off and paint it up, then clear coat it. you can leave it as is, or wet sand the clear coat and compound it to a nice shine.

How long does it last. Does it work on the interior trim that's been dulled?

duplicolor is sold at parts stores, the cap is pretty much the color you'll have when its dry. they have gm color names on the cans. find a few silver to greys and ask to see if they match up up close, most stores will let you run out side real quick and check.

ive used it on both my bumpers. full repaints. mine was rather easy tho, its black. i used gm metallic black.

Mothers Back to Black will last about a month tops before it needs to be reapplied. That is with cleaning the trim with either an all purpose cleaner or Mother Back to Black Trim Cleaner. It's meant for exterior plastic trim. This is pretty much the longevity of most trim products available over the counter.

Are you looking for interior products that are available over the counter?

yes if you know of one, there seems to be two different textures on the door/dash areas one seems to be vinyl and the other plastic right? Ive never found anything that brought the black back.

For the outside bumper plastic piece it may be cheaper to sand and paint or add sealer. I enjoyed doing my headlights in a similar fashion and they've looked new for half a year now.

ill take some before and after pics and maybe post a diy if it comes out good,thats if there isnt one already up.
