Center Console Swap from 04+ to a 97-03?

Is it Possiable to swap the center console from a 04+ GP to the 97-03 GP's?

I'm sick of the damn cup holders and i know the newer GP's have nice ones.


Plus ill steal the seats while im at it.

The 00-05 Monte Carlo center console may fit, if the 04+ GP doesnt. I know the monte center console is pretty nice.

Yup. And if worse comes to worst, one hand on the wheel, one hand on the top of the cup. I never had a problem with my cupholders either.

the rubber in my cup holders is just worn out so they dont hold anything. but i drive with one hand on wheel and the other on the drink as said above. a consol swap would be a cool custom mod IMO

I like the flip out cup holders, one less spot to accumulate crap in.
putting a tighter spring might solve some issues, or like everyone said, hand it..

that being said i had a drink fly out one tight turn, thankfully didnt explode

Sorry to revive an OLD thread, but nobody answered this question. Can you do an interior swap from 04+ to a 97-03 without having to fabricate a bunch of parts... like do the dashes just bolt in to the right place and *BAM* you've got a new interior? If not, would one of the corresponding generations of other w-bodies interiors fit? Thanks for the info.

Buddy only asked about the console, not the whole interior. Anything is possible with some work, and swapping interiors would take a LOT of work, only the seats would be bolt-in.

Any input on what the "lot" of work is? Im assuming the BCM would need some wiring changes (or could i plug the 04+ BCM into the older body?), and that AC tubes and stuff would need moving around. Am I right that actual metal frame that my 2002 has is the same as the frame of the 2004? Does that also include all of the frame (like door, floor, pillars etc) or just the bottom that everything sits on?

Also, thanks for the input. I've done work on my engine, and the folks from this forum and the videos and guides they've supplied have been WAY helpful

They changed the depth around 2000 (I think), so I am guessing enough people complained about it for GM to retool them.

Width and height are different between 97-03 and 04-08 cars. Are the floors the same? Pillar angle? Interior width? A lot of unanswered questions.

For the amount of work, and what these cars are worth, I say move along. Buy an 04+ if you want that interior, or swap the 04+ seats into your 97-03.
