I have a cartuning turbo kit and the install has been straight forward until I got to the part of bolting the upper down pip to the back of the turbo. It keeps hitting the master cylinder and wont allow enough clearance to line the pipes up. Does anyone know what ive done wrong?

iirc when that happens some guys change the brake booster to one off a montie, cause its smaller and moves the master out of the way enough to clear the pipe.

only going off what ive read here on this tho. turbo guys will chime in im sure.

Yep, when this happens you have a few options, some guys beat the pipe with a hammer. I don't like that so I recommend not doing that; however, what you can do is buy a brake booster of a 2000+ Monte Carlo. Bolts right up.

    Unbolt master cyl. (2x 15mm)
Lookup under dash and pop the clip/spring washer (and pocket them in case)
Use large bar to turn booster via the bolts counter clockwise if you are looking at it standing in front of the car.

A later model Impalla brake booster works aswell, but thats a mod for installing a bigger DP than the CT kit came with.
The DP that comes stock with the kit should fit without doing that.

231 is right, usually this only happens w/ a 3in DP.

What is the absolute smallest one? Is the Impala one much smaller than the Monte one? Need as much possible room as I can get...

Unbolt the crossover so it moves freely and "jam" the turbo dp in, I wrapped mine because of the zero clearance from the brakes or the valve cover. My next option will be to slot the holes so I can move the booster up and cocked a bit.

You need to loosen the xo to manifold bolts and push down on the turbo it will lower everything. Also you can get some 1/4 inch cradle shims that will help gain some clearance

I have had mine apart a few times over the years. I've always had clearance issues at the rear valve cover corner, the A/C pipes on the firewall, and the top of the transmission housing where the connector is. Best bet is to hook everything up loosely, get some wood shims like you'd use around the house. Jam them in between your two rough spots, the pressure will keep things where you want it as you bolt it down. Good luck!

Besides being a pain to change plugs with a CT kit the biggest issue I have is the lower corner valve cover bolt gets blocked like Damnir. Have to loosen upper DP to get too.

I wouldn't use wood shims due to heat.

you could wedge everything around with wood shims but after you torque everything down definitely pull the shims out so they dont catch on fire...
