It's not related to the crank gear chamfer anymore(that issue has been fixed) but it looks like it is more associated with the Chain it self being defective.

I plan on running the ST3 cam and 105's. It is not much at ALL over the lift of the XP i was running with the 105's. I plan on staying away from the double roller and take my chances on the valve float. I was expereincing no valve float with my XP and 105's. So I'm hopeing everything will stay the same.
I can't take chances with this double roller stuff.
Pm me with that thread foSHO. I actually planned on going with a different brand of 105's. I think intense sells them. FWIW I have 105's and no issues on the XP cam.
I think it was in the general section on clubgp, but i skimmed through it and couldn't find it. So lets see if the state-of-the-art clubgp search comes up with...
But a local guy already kinda hated them, i never thought anything of it until i started seeing threads pop up about the 105's. Then another guy from iowa had it happen on his xp'd car, so that was enough for me and there really wasn't any explanation so who knows if was a bad batch or what happened.
Search kinda worked:

What about a single chain rollmaster timing chain??? Are you going with one of those or are you staying stock. I had a single rollmaster in my car for several thousand miles with no problems.
So what the rollmaster all you need to do to it is the same as you do to the JP right? with the crank gear? and machining it?
I saw a thread about where someone broke theirs...but they did not machine it i don't think. It was reptile.
Its a hit or miss on if it has to be machined or not. Some have had success just by pressing it on and other have had to machine it. I am almost certian the Farnsworth would be able to machine one for you.
Do you think if I machined it it would be safe to run...100% safe? And also could I use this with the 130# springs?
Brian did not have his machined. I just talked with him. He said then that they said all that had to be done was double the oil pump cover gasket ect ect...
I just saw that they have an option for a double roller rollmaster. Would that be a good choice?
Yah... damnit... i need to keep these threads saved somewhere. I believe the rollmasters have the least problems or better chamfer than the jp's, they explained it and measured it before in other threads and pics, zoom also mentions in the new thread that rollmasters have a lower failure rate. They have always made the double jp and double rollmaster. And about above, the chains may be of lesser quality or it could be breaking due to uneven wear caused by the sprocket being unaligned. Basically the double chain will function as a single roller because it places pressure unevenly.
You could find a local machinist when doing your build and take both the stock sprocket and the new sprocket and have him match it. I thought thats what farns did, or at least someone did... they said their local machinist was very experienced and did it by just looking at them both and later doublechecked the chamfer and was almost dead on, thats what i remember reading. I'm just a ****in librarian without a card catalog! lol
I have rollmaster in the 2001, I wouldnt use anything else.
there are no reliable timing chains right now. i wouldnt dump 5grand into an engine and be taking a chance on a timing chain. my car is plenty fast on rockers. if i go for a cam it will be in an Fbody or Vette
