My car has a afc controller installed do I really need it wired Into the cab? Or do people leave it under the hood? Or do I even need it?

Well i learned the hard way when it was under the hood. It melted part of the plastic box , still works fine but doesn't look to appealing.

Mine has no cover on it and the past owner has it wired so badly into the cab. I was just wondering if I should get one under the hood or redo it into the cab

Redo it and extend it into the cab. This way it's easier to adjust. Especially if your scanning your car.

Here is an old pic but still looks the same.

Yes. The mini AFC allows you to adjust you MAF frequency on the fly and adjust your fueling meaning long term fuel trim. If you want to make those changes permanent then you would have to tune the PCM directly.
