I read through some of the posts on switching to turbo and I know how a turbo works.
Im looking into switching from supercharger to turbo. A setup like the cartuning kit. Im not wanting crazy power like some builds on here. Im thinking around 300. I know I could do that with the m90. But turbo is more efficient and makes power from waste. No drag on the motor. I have a built up tranny.
My question is could I do a turbo setup and run 8-10 psi on a pt61 or close to that size.
I was told I need to upgrade my timing chain and valve springs? Is that true and for the fuel system what would I need? I know injectors and pump. Certain brand or right size?

Valve springs would be a good idea at least. Timing chain will depend on what springs you decide to use. Stock chain will hold up to 105s ok, but if you start going 130-140+ spring pressure, you should go to a double roller timing chain. You could prob get away with 45lb flow matched injectors (the bosch green top injectors flow a little better supposedly than the other ones, but that is only based on what I have been told) and just a fuel pump rewire for the power level you are looking for. You might need to run a little more boost than that to get 300whp. prob get 300 engine hp easy that way. Intercooled or no? And a tune of course. I am sure others will chime in with some thoughts. A cam or rockers would be a worthwhile investment if you are going after the springs and chain anyway.

I ran 10 pounds on a stock pump, 42.5 lb injectors, stock valve springs and stock timing chain.

I was running 12PSI-15PSI on stock valve springs, stock timing chain, 42lb injectors, and PT-61 without issue.

Im wanting to do what you guys did. You guys have numbers for what you was running.
I was going to go no intercooler like the cartuning kit. I have 91 octane. But thinking of going e85

I never did a dyno. But I was intercooled. Why don't you want to run an intercooler. It's pretty cheap for a FMIC. E85 is a good option, can't say much though because I've never ran e85

100% myth. Go look at an efficiency chart.

May want to go at least 60lb injectors if you plan on trying e85. DH and a few others say 80lb but for the amount of streetable power you want to make, I think the 60's would be enough. Might need to think about a racetronix or similar pump upgrade for e85 too but not sure at what power level that becomes necessary. Sounds like you could give it a try as you sit now, and if you feel valve float or power drops off or flatlines at higher rpm's you will know that you need spring upgrades. Pretty easy to do those in car anyway unless you are doing the timing chain too, but that isn't that horrible to do after the fact either. I would suggest intercooling like the others have said. CXracing carries decent ones in a variety of sizes, I got mine and a bunch of piping from there. Frozenboost is another, and I am sure there are plenty of others that ppl have used. I'd say worth the effort for the reliability (less possibility of detonation with cooler air) etc. but again, with lower boost levels, you could prob. get away with just bigger injectors and a good tune.
