Hi I have a pretty large FMIC that I got from CXRacing that it is time to install... I would like to know if anyone has pictures and/or ideas on how to brace/modify the hood latch support that is in the way of the intercooler as well as some pics of front bumper brace modifications. I would like to keep as much of the brace as possible as this is a DD car but also want to get as much air to the IC as I can. I Want to say it is a 13x36x3" core.. something in that area. If you have pics of how you mounted your IC and how you have the hood latch braced please either post here or send me a pm or email. Thanks!

we went to home depot and got some 1" steel flat bar that was i think 1/8" thick, maybe 5/16 we bent it using a vice so it was thick but not too thick. drilled some holes in it and mounted it underneath were splash shield mounts, used those holes, and i think we drilled some holes for it the top in front of the radiator. ill have to get some pics. the lower 2 required a couple of bends but it depends how low your ic sits.

Hope this helps. There is a list of piping I used.

I did not have room to put the front support back on. I did make a custom chromoly support bar but have not installed it yet.

I must be a retard when it comes to forum searches because I can't find posts for those builds, especially interested in Anthony Smiths since he has the modded latch. can you clue me in on how to find those?

I see I'm a week late to this party but I don't peruse the turbo section much, it just makes me envious. In case you still haven't found it here's the hood latch I did for my 26x7x3 FMHE.

Did you ever take some pics of your hood latch setup? Just curious since that is my next task. modified the bumper bar a bit to try to get some more air to the IC without completely removing the bar. Will post some pics when I am done.

Mines been cut for a few years I never did anything to correct it. I do like Anthony's set up though. My top braces are bolted to the front bar that holds the front of the car together. Ill get some pics.

But you don't have your front bumper bar anymore. My car is going to be a DD so I don't want to loose the crash safety of the front bumper bar. I cut out a section of it and re-welded a part of it.. hard to explain but I will take pics. But keeping the bumper bar in there is why you have to modify the hood latch support.I think I am going to notch it out like one guy did, just looking to see if there are any other creative and durable methods before I do.

I did its in my sig link. And I had to modify my hood latch due to the SD hood. I actually ended up welding part of an exhaust clamp to the bumper to get the hood to close.

We cut my bumper bar so the big one would fit in between the 2 pieces of it, so it's not much protection there but it helps hold the bumper up. My ic was only $150 on frozenboost.com so if I get in accident I'm not that worried. We cut the styrofoam too on the sides.
