ok sooooo heres whats goin down. i have a 00 gtp daytona 500 with ported s/c and lim, zzp fullsize intercooler, s/d headers, wizaird cai, and 1.9 modded rockers and im thinkin ima sell them all for a turbo build.
im not to sure how this sounds but this is my build in my mind so far(OPEN FOR SUGESTIONS..PLZ) but a z3 turbo kit with a2a intercooler, #60's with e85, front and rear power logs, the l36 conversion with the hv3, stattama stage 4 or 5(idk yet) and everything "recomended" for the cam, and ima talk to triple edge performance about a trans with a zzp converter..... my goal is 450-500whp and shootin for a 7.5 or lower at my 1/8mile drag strip, but im unsure if everything im saying here wil get me there or not. This is not my daily driver jus a fun toy but i would like to be able to cruise downtown to screw with some people or to the dragstrip 45 miles away.... so i all this feesable or am i on the wrong track here? all knowledge/build opinions are VERY welcome/appreciated here cuz i havent bought anything YET but hopin to magically get a turbo kit on black friday from zzp lol

    thanks guys

Yes pretty much the same just using the stronger aluminum UIM from the l26. You will need a throttle body adapter, the same one that you would use to adapt to a gen 5 s/c. Think that is pretty much it. Others lmk if I am missing anything. you can find plenty of l26 lim/uim sets on the f/s forums. You will need to plug the injector holes but that is the same as the l36. Why not go z7? or just cost savings? I think most will argue that the z7 kit is better for future power goals, but with that said I think the z3 kit could probably support your power goals although would probably be working pretty hard to get to 500whp. Only caution I will toss out there is going turbo is expensive... lol. between the turbo parts etc and trans upgrades etc... but the results are worth it!

Okay seriously guy, this is your third build question thread in 7 days, why are you posting this same crap over and over?

Sell EVERYTHING you have, buy a turbo, build the motor up and throw a $4,000 transmission in it and it should handle 400-500 hp.

Two of them where based on diff builds because i WAS thinkin s/c but now i realize obviously turbo's smarter and im wanting opinions/help because no one around here knows anything about any form of the 3800 performance wise....the other one was dumb tho i will say....sry lol
but honestly whats the difference between the z3 and z7 kit because on there site its lookin pretty much the same to me and when i asked them they jus told me the z3 is a newer setup. Its about all they sell mainly, and seriously 4 grand on a tranny? I work at a gm shop and we got two pretty good tranny guys that said they'd gladly help me build it so i was hopin to save some cash there but idk

The biggest difference w the z3 vs z7 is the piping. The z7 crossover is a higher flow better design as well as a better waste gate setup. The z3 kit is the base model, uses a rear manifold block off based gate that wouldn't work for you if you put a rear plog on. Plus as far as I know the z7 kit has better turbo options (a precision 6262 would be my suggestion ) but in general the z7 has more future HP flexibility.

To make the tranny somewhat bulletproof you need a GMR 1" chain which go for over 2000 used on the forums when you can find one. Second best is the 7/8" chains but most ppl say you should replace the chain once a year or so because they stretch. Dave at tep is very helpful and can point you in the right direction for trans parts etc.

And for your HP goals you will need a good air to air intercooler. Yet another costly investment although you can piece one together from csxracing or frozenboost dot com etc for less than buying a kit.

Would piecing a kit together be as efficient as the Zzp kit or would having to put all those couplers in there cause boost loss? And where can you find the gmr 1" chain? Or can you? Also by any chance do you know about when those 6262 turbos spool up on the gtp's? J/w

Piecing a kit is cheaper and just as effective if you have the means.. If you don't know how to run piping or know anybody that does, then forget it, or buy used piping from the forums.

The gmr chain as he said can be found used on the forums.. But as stated, for some serious cash.. A 7/8 chain can last if you don't launch it all the time.

All I can tell you at this point is to STUDY STUDY STUDY..
    .
Oh and btw, you don't need that stupid aluminum intake, the l36 flows just as good and it is gonna cost you less so you don't have to adapt the tb. It's a waste of time.

At those power levels you will need to rip the trans apart to perform maintainence every season or so.

There are many drawbacks to being at the limit of your hardware that many do not advertise.

So what egzactly do you mean by "maintenance"? I only ask because to some thats jus like a couple simple things or are we talkin pricey parts/removing the trans every year? I'm not gunna be at the track every weekend or anything prolly once MAYBE twice a month, and the oprolly 6-7passes a month and the ocasional cruise downtown on a friday night to pick on some buddies(ones got a 1g talon awd thats stupid lol... I'd like to atleast get kinda close lol) I prolly wont launch real hard very much but it will happen at the track once or MAYBE twice a month in the spring/summer
and I know I need to study like CRAZY.. any good recomendations on some good stuff or where to look for more/better info other than bugging you guys all the time? lol
also does anyone know about when the 6262 turbo spools up on our cars? I know e85 and the plogs help that a lil, but I havent had anyone actually tell me an rpm range of where they spool and im kinda curious lol

Piecing a kit together can become difficult, if you can find a used kit that needs a turbo or just needs the turbo rebuilt youll be fine though. 6262 will spool up fine but its a little small, 64mm is a good middle ground. couplers wont cause boost loss but they can blow off if not tightened enough. check out alot of the turbo posts on here and on clubgp and it will answer alot of your questions.

Replacing worn clutch packs, checking the chain, possibly replacing.

does the boost come one slower or anything if you start gettin alot of pipe involved? theres a z7 kit for sale on here and it looks like alot of piping which seems to me like it would take longer to come on if it has all that pipe to go threw but idk if im wrong there or? and also hes got a 60-1 turbonetics turbo with the kit how does that compare to the 6262 or a 64mm?

Kinda wut I figured but my buddy(does alot off DSM's) told me the piping needs to be way shorter to speed up boost, so I figured id ask some people that actually have experience with this on grand Prix setups

I wouldn't worry about the length of piping... Look at the sts rear mount turbo kits, there is a lot of piping. And they still spool quickly.

Define quickly. Hell define spool. The only cars that can effectively use a RMT are rear mounted engines.

Thennnn that's not a rear mount turbo if it's on a rear engine platform... It's just a turbo rear engine whatever...

    Your post makes no sense

That was the point. Why mount the turbo ten feet away from the engine when it can be right next to it?
